I don't think Kaepernick will ever be a productive pocket QB even with Holmgren's help. That would be the best thing that ever happened to Kaepernick.... Mike is the best QB coach out there I think ...
Holmgren has taken two different teams to Super Bowls and is considered an elite head coach. That would destroy Dave Mahler.
If the 9'ers want to dust off an old coach to go with their aging players then by all means do so.

Like Big Mike, one of the best, and that would be a huge upgrade for SF over Jimmy H.That would be the best thing that ever happened to Kaepernick.... Mike is the best QB coach out there I think ...
Look how decent Hasselbeck became.... He was never elite, but Holmgren brought everything he could out of him ... And he was BAD when he first started playing for us... Holmgren is and offensive genius ... Just don't ask him to even think defense...
Kaep running The Walrus' WCO?
Ha. Hahaha. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....
Holmgren would need to hire a top notch defensive coordinator.Look how decent Hasselbeck became.... He was never elite, but Holmgren brought everything he could out of him ... Kaepernick is nothing but a one trick pony and his football IQ is very low. This is the main issue. Holmgren's offense plays directly to Kaapernick's greatest weaknesses. It reminds me of. . . RGIII's performance in a somewhat similar offense this year under McVay and Gruden. Anyone see Kaepernick hitting small-window timing routes on slants and sluggos much? I don't.
I agree with you on this. Shurmur was as good a defensive coordinator as there ever was and without him their defense fell apart. We probably would have had at least one more SB appearance if Fritz hadn't died.
Mike Holmgren was born and raised in San Francisco and was an OC under Bill Walsh. He has forgotten more football than Harbaugh will ever know.Holmgren has expressed interest in coaching. So has Jon Gruden. Doesn't really mean much. Hell, I'M interested in coaching. So what? There's still a year on Harbaugh's contract. Holmgren coming to SF is just rumor mill. Even if the 49ers were interested they still have to interview somebody black in accordance with the NFL's hiring policy.

Hasselbeck was tailor made for Holmgren's west coast offensive scheme. kaepernick is physically gifted but mentally weak.Holmgren knows how to coach qb's though... He would work with him big time... You just never know if he could run that system affectively until he's given the shot... I don't think many thought Hass could either...
