maybe not to youngsters like you.

There aren’t many youngsters here.

Love how that is the first assumption people make though.

There is no logical argument for Russell beyond a team accolade.

And as has been discussed time and again, team accomplishments are tie breakers in these debates.

Otherwise Robert Horry would be in the conversation too.

Unless you're pushing 80 no one saw Bill in his prime. But stats tell a story especially when you now take into consideration slanted home stats (which makes sense given their ridiculous rebounding numbers).

Bill is an All time winner but to put him top 10 is absurd to me. GOAT is extra absurd.

He was a 6 10 guy playing against subpar comp and couldn't average 50 percent from the field (let's pretend that is accurate)

Never averaged over 20. So his impact was largely on put backs and defense.

He was limited. He was able to "contain" Wilt because he was a great defensive player.

My unbiased, greatest starting 5 of all-time:

PG - Bob Cousy
SG - Jayson Tatum
SF - Paul Pierce
PF - Larry Bird
C - Bill Russell

----------

*note* - the above list took 100's of hours of unbiased, analytical research to compile.

Difficult to argue with that.

Although, the Laker list looks a little bit better:

Magic
Kobe
LeBron
Kareem
Wilt

How many rebounds would dennis Rodman have been credited with if he played with Boston in the 60s

50 per game?

Well…

Seems like his stats were inflated too.

I think pretty close to Russell’s numbers if I were to guess.

You know your team has had some talent over the years when they can have Shaq and the literal league logo coming off the bench. lol

James Worthy
Anthony Davis
Byron Scott
Glen Rice (for shooting)
Karl Malone
Gary Payton
Pau Gasol
Elgin Baylor

It is pretty damn stupid

Lakers all time team is as good as the rest of the league combined

Probably better if you keep all the Lakers on their team and don’t have duplicate LeBron, Shaq, etc on the team for the rest of the league

I personally would not put Malone or Payton on this list.

Nothing against them being all time greats but not all-time great Lakers.

You can't be a rent-a-Laker for a year or two and be considered an all-time great Laker.

Other teams, sure.

But not the Lakers.

Bill Russell is not in the conversation for GOAT.

Wasn’t even the best center in the league during his era.

Anyone that says Russell's in the GOAT conversation has a screw loose.

What he is that can't be denied is the greatest winner the league has ever seen and the most important player on the greatest dynasty of all time.

His true importance didn't show up in the box scores because blocks weren't a stat when he played. It was his defense that made him so great.

Right, also doesn't it matter where they were in their careers when they were on the team? You're not putting Shaq as the Cavs all time best center even though he did play there.

Not all time great Lakers.

But when you do Lakers against the other 29 franchises?

I think that is fair game.
