I don’t get the 2nd trade either. These deals only make sense is if they are getting Snell. Freed up nearly $40 million for next year and the triplets won’t make real money until 2026

I figure they saved $37.5M in future deals by swapping Ray for Mitch. That is all this deal was about.

The second deal is about unloading one of their surplus infielders for an equal OF. I don't mind this deal, but I don't really know much about the guy other than he is a 29 year old platoon OF.

I get it, I’m mostly saying they freed up enough money to do a deal with Snell where it’s like 10 this year, 40 next, then back to 10 when the triplets make money then back to 40 in 2027 when Raleigh and Gilbert are traded.

The Cabby one doesn’t make sense at all. The rumored deal on paper is a massive steal from the M’s. If it is Miller/Woo plus Cabby and a prospect for Parades and Raley then it makes sense. Without signing a pitcher, even Paxton, I truly don’t get these deals then cause Raley would platoon with France? Can’t platoon with Canzone, be odd to put have him be the RF. I’m totally lost

Riley played OF so I am guess he is the LF to start. I like the deal mainly because Cabby drove me crazy at times.

That’s kind of my thing is where does he play cause at least from his stats he is a platoon player. It appears he is basically an athletic version of what Jerry thinks Canzone can be.

My only thing with the Snell, is that if they sign him and get Parades, they are completely set roster wise (outside of bullpen) until Gilbert and Raleigh are traded so won’t need to “balloon the payroll”. Locklear is basically ready to take France’s spot. Bliss and Young will be taking 2nd. Raley at one OF spot, then let all of the cluster of AAAA guys fight it out for the other one. Just without Cabby it takes away the RH platoon with Rojas so that’s why I am saying that move doesn’t make sense. I know Jerry loves Moore but he can’t play LF and 2B when a lefty pitches.

Plus, Mariners fans are dumb and if they sign Snell you will see all over Twitter fans acting like they got Ohtani and forget all the negativity the FO has fostered.

And Mitch openly dislikes Jerry which is funny too. Can’t remember his name, he was a switch hitting 1B that played for the M’s and openly said how he disliked the organization only to get traded back to Seattle the next season.

Dipoto on keeping the young starting pitchers in the organization: "We did a lot of groundwork on what it might look like if we did trade one of those young starters and we never liked the way it looked."

He told Desclafani that the five starters that finished last year will be their opening day rotation and he would come into camp as the sixth starter.

If the Castillo, Gilbert, Kirby, Miller and Woo get through spring healthy, Desclafani would be a long reliever/swing starter out of the bullpen
