I am impressed by how little the Dodgers gave up to get one of the best arms in the game along with one of the fastest guys in the game. Keibert Ruiz and Josiah Gray are outstanding prospects, but neither has a track record in the bigs. Carrillo has not made his big league debut, but appears to be a very good bullpen arm (he needs to tighten up his command to stick in a rotation). The rest of the details are not known at this time, but I'm sure other players will be involved.

Donovan Casey is another prospect heading east. He presently has an OPS of .896 in AA. He looks like he can run bases pretty well, but strikes out a lot -- 102 in 334 plate appearances. Not sure if that is all of the prospects the Nats get, but that isn't bad.

Danny Duffy to the Dodgers also, along with Daniel Hudson to the Padres. The Nationals are reloading this year.
By the way, this is one of my favorite scenes in the movie. Especially when Washington talks about one of the fans learning to play 1B.

Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post reports that a deal to send Max Scherzer and Trea Turner to the Dodgers is "close."

Dougherty reports that Scherzer has approved a deal to Los Angeles, which is a big step since the right-hander has 10-5 rights. The Dodgers will reportedly send their two top prospects in Keibert Ruiz and Josiah Gray in the deal along with Donovan Casey and right-hander Gerardo Carrillo. There's likely to be a lot of paperwork in this trade that make it a slow burn, but it sounds like this is one that is going to get done. Incredible.

adres acquired RHP Daniel Hudson from the Nationals for RHP Mason Thompson and INF Jordy Barley.

Hudson is currently on the COVID-19 IL, but that doesn't prevent him from being tradeable. The right-hander has been exceptional this year with a 2.20 ERA and 48/7 K/BB ratio over 32 innings for the Nationals. He'll likely be one of the bridges to Mark Melancon over the final two months of the season.

Dodgers have to try to do something with Bauer right?

Seems crazy to pay a healthy ace $28M to not pitch.

:noidea:

I'm guessing they are working out a way to void his contract at the moment if that's possible.....his teammates don't want him back.....

another rays mystery :suds:

Rays acquired RHP Shawn Armstrong from the Orioles for cash considerations.

Armstrong has an 8.55 ERA over 20 appearances for the Orioles this season and was removed from their 40-man roster last month. He's pitched well at Triple-A, though, and will represent depth for the Rays at Triple-A Durham.

He's an asshole, no question, but he's an asshole with A+ stuff.

Will be interesting to see what happens if they are able to void him.

They probably are, and yet, being the Dodgers they don't give a fuck

I don't think I can question anything the Rays do. Their track record speaks for itself.

phils going all in lol

Phillies acquired LHP Braeden Ogle from the Pirates for C Abrahan Gutierrez.

Ogle, who turned 24 Friday, has posted a 3.13 ERA and 42/23 K/BB ratio over 31 2/3 innings at Triple-A Indianapolis this season. He has never pitched in the majors.

If the Rays like this guy, he is probably worth picking up.

Braves acquired OF Adam Duvall from the Marlins for C Alex Jackson.

Duvall has recorded an underwhelming .229/.277/.478 triple-slash line across 339 plate appearances, but ranks among the top-10 in the National League in both home runs (22) and RBI (68) this season. He's even chipped in five stolen bases for good measure. The 32-year-old slugger, who has a mutual option for the upcoming 2022 campaign, is a reliable source of over-the-fence pop and will provide the Braves with some additional outfield depth as they make a postseason push over the final two months of the regular season.

lue Jays acquired RHP Jose Berrios from the Twins for SS-OF Austin Martin and RHP Simeon Woods Richardson.

The Blue Jays gave up a significant chunk of their future here for arguably the most valuable player currently on the trade market. Berrios isn't an ace, but he's plenty good and he's under control for 2022, which really added to his price tag here. Berrios is 7-5 with a career-best 3.48 ERA in 20 starts this year. His strikeout and walk rates are both about as good as they've ever been, and durability hasn't been any sort of issue for him. The trade here doesn't much move the needle on his fantasy value. He'll be a better bet for wins, but he'll also face a tougher schedule in the AL East.
