Surprised the Giants didn't make a move. I think they knew this smoke and mirrors act that has them currently in first place isn't going to last and then when they saw the Scherzer/Turner acquisition by the Dodgers it was too much and they just gave up on the season. Too bad

They just got Kris Bryant, FYI

Bad move by the White Sox. It is the Eloy Jimenez traded in reverse. With the injuries they have suffered, they will still make the playoffs but October is such a crap shoot. Their bull pen has been decent. Now they have two closers and with ego's involved they may not have even one.
Madrigal will be nightmare for the Sox in the future, just as Jimenez is for the Cubs now. A second closer guarantees nothing. If they can't start hitting because of the injuries, there will be nothing to close in a lot of games.
Madrigal will be making All-Star Games long after Kimbrel and Hendriks are gone.

According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM in Phoenix, the Blue Jays have acquired Diamondbacks right-hander Joakim Soria.

It was a really solid move. Neither team got ripped off.

Madrigal? Guy is a stiff on D and isnt a great runner. Has no power, like none. Hes not some massive loss. You play to win titles, Kimbrel does that now.

typical Giants move, trying to buy a championship

Why can't they act more like a true small market team? Like, say... the Dodgers?

Exactly, he's no HOFer. And the guy replacing him has the same OPS and much better D. And isn't out for the year and playoffs.

This has to be the most active trade deadline ever. I think I heard at least 10 all stars from last year got traded. And I can't believe the Nationals and Cubs were able to move all those players in a few days.

We are reading different evaluations of Madrigal. And of course , like all trades for a win now team, it only works if they actually win now. They have only played in two World Series in my lifetime so I hope it works.

The Sox are in year 2 of a 5 year window. The future is now. Madrigal isn't the next Roberto Alomar, don't worry. Hernandez is actually as good or better.

What evaluations say Madrigal is a good defender, base runner or hits for power??
