I'll be honest I don't hate it, he hits lefties well so he'll join the DH/PH platoon. It's a solid move just not the put them over the top move.
He is a GREAT PHer. I would love to have him back if the opportunity arises. But losing him is not a needle mover, either.

You have anything to say about any of the guys we got for him (Davis, Szapucki, Seymour, Zwick)?

Yankees acquired OF Harrison Bader from the Cardinals for LHP Jordan Montgomery.

It's a straight one-for-one swap that fits needs on both sides, presuming that Bader can make a successful recovery from his recent diagnosis of plantar fasciitis. He is among the very best defensive center fielders in the sport when healthy and still might carry some offensive upside at age 28. At last check, Bader was about a week away from getting out of a walking boot. He could feasibly debut in New York by late August.

That plantar fasciitis can be a nasty, lingering problem. Good luck to Harrison. He gave STL some exciting moments but with Carlson and other youngsters he was expendable.

Yeah, I think Bader is a much better gamble for 2023 than the rest of this year. A lot of his value comes from his defense, though he was a decent hitter before this season.

I'm a Ruf truther but I didn't think he could bring back Davis plus 3 more guys. I guess the Mets figured the platoon of Vogelbach and Ruf gives them one damn good 600 pound DH.

That return shocked me as well. Especially when you figure Szapucki is essentially an MLB ready guy. Not a game changing return, but certainly a + return for the Giants.

I honestly had no idea he was still an active player. 48 OPS+ in his last 1102 PA.
He was on the Indians AAA team this year. He was only called up bc of an injury. Basically a 3rd option on a team with little to no depth at one of their weakest positions.

I feel like the Angels could have done better for Syndergaard than Moniak. He hasn't appeared in a top 100 list since 2017, and his minor league track record is very underwhelming (he has hit well in AA/AAA this year, but it's only 129 PA). Not only that, but they can take a gamble on Brandon Marsh (who has hit much better throughout the minors and at least has an 82 OPS+ at the major league level). Great trade for the Phils.

I think Syndergaard is kind of a crap shoot but yeah, I have no problem giving up Moniak. I didn't like the Marsh deal as much because they gave up a really good prospect for him. Hopefully he'll play some good defense.

If nothing else the Phillies acquired a lot of hair with these two Angels.

maybe rodon toldem he wont opt out:suds:
Yeah....nope. He is so not staying with the Giants after this year.

I think Zaidi the GM got lowballed since they knew he had to deal him, and he decided to pass rather than get a rep as a GM who will sell cheap.

After all the Soto hype, nobody mentioned Brandon Drury coming to the Padres from the Reds.

He did this on the first pitch he saw as a Padre...

Completely rooting for the Padres this year to kick the Dodgers ass. Fun to see a good team there again finally.

Best line up I've seen since moving here and becoming a fan when I was 8 years old.

Most long time SD fans like me are unfortunately always prepared for disappointment.

I wanted to ask you, how did you guys talk Musgrove into taking 100 million over 5 years? I get that he's a local boy, but he probably gets close to double that if he hits the open market.

Man have you seen his last few starts? Lucky he signed when he did, lol.

Definitely took a bit of a discount, but when you grow up in San Diego, it's tough to leave.

I saw him against the Twins and we only got two off him. Did most of the damage against your bullpen. Yeah, he's oddly struggled with the Rockies as well.

Still, I think that's a good guy to have at the front of your rotation for the rest of his prime.
