OP is an moron. Doesn’t root for the best team in his state. Could root for a blue blood and perineal conference champion and school that’s won several national championships. Instead chooses to root for a mediocre football team with zero championships and will most likely go on average 8-4 every year.

Am I doing this right?

The QB's in this draft class are a joke outside of Haskins- and if you are gonna be under 6 ft and try to get decent money as a 1st round pick, this draft is the one to do it. I wouldn't be stunned to see him go top 10 in a QB draft as barren as this one. Murray is better than some recent guys that have come out.

That could also help the Cards move Rosen for a decent haul also

If Lamar Jackson can start in the Nfl then Kyler Murray can. Being starting qb is more fun than working your way up through the minor leagues.
You know this from experience?

They are on the radio talking about the Cards making a move for him. Not sure it takes a first to get him though.

His measurements at the combine are going to be key. They also said he could be as short as 5 foot 8 on Golic and Wingo just now.
Who gives a fuck about height if the dude can play. We already knew he was shorter, whether it’s 5’6 or 5’9 is pretty moot at this point.

Dude,

4 million guaranteed with a 2nd contract that could potentially set your grandchildren up for life. Or maybe more money up front in a weak QB draft but money isn't guaranteed, 2nd contract is worth less even if you are elite in football and serviceable in baseball, and as an undersized quarterback you wreck your health here.

Would you still call Murray a moron if he played for Oklahoma State?

That's the idea. Can he make it in the league if he's that short.

I have no stake either way. It appears he will get some suitors

His stats were pretty damn good for college baseball but lets be real. It is a hell of a lot more difficult to make it work in MLB than NFL. Most guys don't make it out of the minors, it doesn't matter when you are drafted. But in the NFL he will most likely be a 1st round pick possibly top 15 or so, some team will give him a chance to start in the first few seasons, possibly the 1st season. This is the best option unless he plans on being a superstar in the MLB.

I think this is a good time to remind everyone.

Career Earnings:

Calvin Johnson - 113.8 million
Jeff Samardzija - 122.7 million(once his guaranteed contract expires after 2020)

Calvin Johnson - one of the best WR of all-time.
Jeff Samardzija - currently 23 games under .500 for his career with a 4.17 ERA.

Yes and ignoring the chances of even making it to the show let alone earning a big second baseball contract is so minute it’s insane is pretty dumb. It’s very likely the last big money he ever makes playing baseball is his signing bonus. If he ends up a top 15 pick it’s very likely he will triple that at least in the NFL.

Its an interesting situation because even if he becomes a bust you can still earn a ton of money as a career back up QB coming in and out as a starter for bad teams. Mark Sanchez has made 40 million in his career Ryan Fitzpatrick has made nearly 60 million and Sam Bradford has made 70 million.

In baseball like someone said even if you make it to the show you have to play for 6 years so he wont even get paid until he is about 28-30 hoping to get that 7 year 200 million contract if he is a great pitcher which there are only a handful at that level in the league. I would say go for the NFL if you are a highly touted QB prospect if he was safety or Tight End I would go baseball.

interesting info but I would say that Calvin Johnson could have earned double that if he would have stayed in the league and not cut himself short its not like CJ made that over a full career

When anyone in this thread has those options, I would care what they thought about it.

I have some friends that want me to play in 40+ year old basketball league and some friends who want me to play on their 40+ year old softball team.

Does that count?

I think his monetary ceiling is higher in the NFL.

Does he want to be successful or one of the best at what he does for a living (and possibly get just as much money or more) or just make a lot of money and be okay?

This could actually go the total opposite way though:

Gets his signing bonus and contract. Makes it out of the minors a couple times but it never works out. Still makes a good chunk of $10-20M over 4-5 years.
OR
Gets a chance at becoming a starting QB and succeeds, gets huge contract. QB's are the highest paid position in the NFL by far, that is different than being a WR, even one of the best WR's. He could get $12-18M a year being a decent to serviceable QB, Keenum got $18M a year.

I'm a little surprised he is considering the NFL. I would have thought he was going to play baseball. I wouldn't think an NFL team would consider him as a qb because of his height. He'd be a great "Darren Sproles" type player. I have to wonder if he is ok with that or does he only want to play qb? I just hope he leaves OU for whatever sport. :D
