Dude,

4 million guaranteed with a 2nd contract that could potentially set your grandchildren up for life. Or maybe more money up front in a weak QB draft but money isn't guaranteed, 2nd contract is worth less even if you are elite in football and serviceable in baseball, and as an undersized quarterback you wreck your health here.

What if Murray loves playing football and being QB more than baseball, just as OP loves being a poke, Gundy's kentucky waterfall, and eating turkey legs more than being a cool?

Uh, he can enter the draft and if he doesn’t get drafted high enough he can go play baseball instead. Fact is, it’s very likely that the draft bonus is the last big money he’ll ever get from baseball as it’s unlikely he’ll ever make the big show. If he goes through the combine and ends up a first round pick and gets more money then he goes. Otherwise he plays baseball.

He just played a season at OU with the same deal on the table. Why not see if you can't get a first round NFL deal worth 10 or 15 million dollars?

Couldn't he try both like Deion?

Differences between the two.

A. Deion sucked at baseball. Murray is already a better pro ball player than Deion was.
B. QB’s make a hell of a lot more money than Deion did.

The better analogy would be to Bo Jackson except reverse. Try football and if he isn’t good enough go back to baseball where you can get paid in the minors until you’re damn near 40 in AAA.

No comparison with bo. All star in both. Played in the nfl as an off season hobby

Aside from the money part.

Yep, if it's a purely economic decision, he will probably get more than the $4 million signing bonus he got from the A's if he is a first round NFL pick. But, I just don't see someone his size making it in the NFL.

Maybe trying to do both so he can double dip?

No question he does.

Otherwise he would’ve gotten drafted quite high out of hs.

Deion was pretty solid a couple years the braves went to the playoffs

He is only an inch shorter than Drew Brees. At least, they say he is 5’11”.

You guys are nuts, he is getting ready to be the first ever to be a first round draft pick in both sports. Heard Aikman on yesterday talking about how the Kingsbury hire just seals it, the nfl has hijacked the college game. He doesn’t have to pay all the money back and baseball is still there for years. He doesn’t have to ride those minor league buses around for a couple years now, it’s a no brainer.

Gee, it’s Murray’s life, and he has a unique set of options no one of us has. When anyone in this thread has those options, I would care what they thought about it.

Either way, he will make millions doing something he loves. Good for him. I wish him well. He’s a hell of a competitor.
