Yeah, you are wrong here.

Poole is a really nice player.

But he is a dime a dozen. Lots of instant offense players out there who only contribute on 1 side. Can he be a better defender on time?

Sure. But he isn’t ever going to be an asset defensively. And against teams like Boston who have bigger guards? It is very difficult to play Poole and Curry at the same time. Which means, in certain matchups he is limited to about 20 minutes a game.

Klay and Dray aren’t close to what they were. Wiggins is easily your 2nd best player.

And as fun as Poole is to watch offensively, he isn’t good enough to justify keeping over Wiggins.

He is the type of player who makes a great piece on a top team, but give him that bag and ask him to be 1 or 2?

You ain’t going to be doing much winning.

In other words, his future isn’t bright enough to justify retaining him over Wiggins who extends your window of contention with the Curry core.

Warriors seem to think that Poole is more than just a dime a dozen player.

And, unless they have figured out a way to also keep Wiggins, that could be the mistake that officially ends the dynasty.

foolish imo.. I mean unless they've just decided to end it on Dray and Klay both. Which I guess makes some sense.....take the insane tax bill next year.

Wiggins would push their Tax bill over 400 million easy.

Agree. Poole is a nice player. I'd welcome him on the Lakers in a heartbeat.

But on the Warriors he is a redundancy/luxury while Wiggins provides the defense they need and can score as well.

They've earned my complete trust. I'm sure they have a plan. Like I said maybe it's Draymond that goes. Or maybe Lacob decided fuck it bombs away. They simply have too much talent.

Could dare dray to opt out. Curious what he’d get in a deal. Likely not as much as his option over 4 years (aav) so maybe he gambles and the dubs let both walk after next year and save huge tax dollars after that

Idk

Every year they bring in vets, they could easily find a backup PG if they needed to keep the better player (Wiggins)

I'm glad that they are extending Poole like I thought they would. We'll see about Wiggins.

And they absolutely deserve that trust. As it stands right now, it looks like a possible mistake. But they don't have to make any of those decisions right now, so at least for this season, it's not a mistake.

Obviously the situation evolves and after the punch I think the idea of parting with Draymond after one huge tax year (next year) is more in the mix now. I think they keep Klay though if he accepts an end of career deal like 3/60.

Letting guys walk is ok when you literally have too much talent. You don't want to take back salary so trading guys away makes no sense.

And there's still a lot of unknowns....do the kids emerge? How does Draymond look after 2 years? Does Poole learn to play defense? Etc.

Like I said, the Warriors are basically in the best possible position, an embarrassment of riches. And I completely trust the front office to figure this out.

Yes I know. If they picked keeping Poole over keeping Wiggins that's a mistake. I think they have a plan.

If Kuminga or Moody take a leap, it's okay to lose Wiggins. Poole is the more special player than Wiggins. It seem like few people here agree with that, but I'm glad that the Warriors have made the commitment to him.

Few agree because it's probably the wrong take. Gonna need a huge leap from Kuminga to let Wiggins go. And he's not really a 3 anyway.

I think Poole is more special than Wiggins. Maybe that's wrong, but at least it seems to be a better take than the ones saying that he is a dime a dozen player. The Warriors don't seem to think that.

As you know that wasn't my take. Poole is a good player with potential to be great (on offense). But if winning rings with this team is the goal, we still need Wiggins more for now. As I've been saying maybe it's Draymond that's gone after next year, I'm sure that won't be a problem for you.

I think he's a 15 to 20 million type of guy. Solid shooter. pretty good ball handler. Poor defender.

He's only 23. When he hits his prime in a few years he could well be one of the best scorers in the league. But still, I think this team needs Wiggins more.

Yeah, the dime a dozen comment was Tlance and I think a few others echoed the same thing as well. But did you think the team was going to do this a couple months ago? You seemed to think that it would be a decent move to go with a low cost vet PG in the future. I'm glad that's off the table now.

LOL. Needless to say, I have no problem with Draymond being gone next year. This seems to make it more likely. This Poole extension is such great, great news. I think it helps fix or prevent any locker room issues. Unless there is a very unexpected huge Draymond contract extension, Poole knows he's the man now and that the team values him more than Draymond.

Yup. A contract is prospective. You're banking on a 23 year old player getting better.
