Your right, missed your team, no lack of suitors for sure.

I've said it before, any team that doesn't have legit top 10 QB or didn't just draft a potential franchise QB in the last season or two, will be in on him if becomes a FA. That's probably 15 or so team that will be in on the initial bidding.

Edit: And to add to that, A QB of Wilson's caliber only hits the FA market, once a decade.

worth $20M? Nope. Will someone give him that? Yup. Is Romo worth his contract? Brees? Flacco? Kap? Cutler? Stafford?

Nope, none of them. But that's the market so that's what QB's are pulling now. Wilson gets $20M and the team will sink back to 3rd in the NFCW at best. You can't hamstring a team with a contract like that unless you are going to hit big in the draft every year. Too many Hawks looking to get paid, just like everyone said they would. Some Seattle fans had delusions that the players were a team and would work together to take less and stay together. That didn't even make it one offseason.

Seriously, I don't know what some people are thinking. It's like they don't think that the NFL is a QB league. Even average QB(s) get $7-10 mil a year. Also, the NFL is devoid of QB talent right now. The quality of prospects have just plummeted over that last 10 years. People better believe that when a QB that some would put in the top 5-10 is available, there will be a very long line for his services.

I agree, you got a franchise QB consider your self blessed and don't even think of letting him walk, the failure rate is plain scary and it's going up as the QBs from the college ranks seem to be less prepared because of the offense going on in college.

Yes he deserves 20+M a year. I don't think he's great but he doesn't make mistakes that lose games. Pay the man.

the idea of "worth" is far too generalized when it comes to professional sports most of the time.

what a player is worth is completely dependent on the team's current make up, and its plans for its future, no matter the sport

i don't agree that the seahawks' best destiny if to build everything around rw, so for me, he's not worth that much payroll

i understand why my fellow fans disagree, and i certainly understand what fans who reasonably disagree with me think

Stick to baseball cezero, your in over your head talking football. The Seahawks would be better served to start from scratch with RW then trying to make it work without him. Nothing harder to come by then a franchise QB Also nothing more important to have then a franchise QB, everybody else is replaceable.

Barring an injury, Wilson's value won't decrease during the 2015 unless he turns into a turnover machine. Even the loss in value due to an injury can be mitigated by insurance.

Wilson is pretty much in the catbird seat. Whether SEA wants to pay him or not, he is going to GET PAID.

As long as he does not get hurt in the violent sport he plays in. That is a huge gamble considering what is at stake.

He took out insurance to cover a career altering injury.

We are aware of that Mike.
I bet that policy costs a small fortune. Additionally, it is my guess that the policy would roughly cover RW's anticipated 2015 income..$20M, not the huge guarantee that a new contract would include..ie $60M +/-.

Yep... Finding a franchise QB is one of the hardest things too find in the NFL ... When you have one you don't even consider letting them go... Teams will search for decades and not find that guy ....

Seattle has already signed key pieces for the next several years, and it's not like Seattle can't hit some in the draft, because Pete and John have proven to be pretty good at that... This is nothing unusual, It's the business side of football, even if Wilson get's his 20 mil a year Seattle is still in good shape talent wise, not sure why you think they would sink in the NFC West just because Wilson get's paid....

Really a no brainer, you don't let your franchise QB walk, way too hard to find one.

point is true: they're too hard to find. If you do get/have one, you have to keep him while he's in his prime. Easy decision.

How many teams in the NFL have really good quarterbacks? Not many.
