Although I’ve been reading this message board as a guest since before the NFL stopped letting fans post on their site, I didn’t realize you had to be a experienced poster to call BS. Honestly the reason I even read a RTK post is to see what @SteelersPride and @Tapey have to say about it since they seem intelligent.
First time poster but when I’m stopped at a truck stop eating diner some of y’all have given me years of reading entertainment.
Hey! RTK has told me how I’m stupid, a clown, low intelligence, worthless , etc....

welcome to the board. Look forward to seeing yah around.:suds:

It would be smart for the Patriots to try and trade their first for Hurts but I don't think it would be smart for the Eagles to make that trade.

Pats would trade Stidham for broken down Wentz and a 2-3 rounder

He is ranked 17th in this list a few behind Brees

there is a Hurts craze right now. but part of that is comparing him to how horrible Wentz was playing.
A young mobile QB seems to get this before he comes back down to earth.

Tua had this craze because their team won the 1st couple games, yet when you look at that dolphin team the offense had sucked in comparison.

Opinions on Hurts will be all over the place for the rest of this season.
Then next year the eagles optimism will come crashing down. Which is fine with me.
or
Hurts becomes the next surprise QB to do well which I doubt but figured I should add for fairness

Tua's first 2 career starts: 64%, 341 passing yards (6.8 YPA), 3 TD passes, 0 INTs 35 rushing yards & 0 rushing TDs.

Hurts' first 2 career starts: 55.4%, 505 passing yards (6.8 YPA), 4 TD passes, 0 INT, 169 rushing yards & 1 rushing TD.

Tua also entered a situation with a team and offense playing well under Fitzpatrick. Get got to jump into this nice warmed up vehicle. Hurts inherited this beat up vehicle that was being driven into traffic barriers all season long.

The closest comp of rookies this season for their first 2 games would be Joe Burrow.

Hurts' first 2 career starts: 55.4%, 505 passing yards (6.8 YPA), 4 TD passes, 0 INT, 169 rushing yards & 1 rushing TD.

Burrow's first 2 career starts: 61.9%, 509 passing yards (5.2 YPA), 3 TD passes, 1 INT, 65 rushing yards & 1 rushing TD.

Hurts & Burrow are completely different types of QBs.

but here is what you have to worry about. (bold print)
when QBs are known for something other than Passing 1st. They always come back down to earth.
Whether it is for rushing, toughness, athletic, whatever.
If Passing isnt their 1st attribute (other than maybe leader) you are in trouble long term.

So the fact that he has 505 passing yards, 4 TD passes and 0 INT thru his first 2 starts mean nothing to him as a passer because he has 169 rushing yards? Sure seems like QBs with rushing elements built into their games like Wilson, Dak (before foot snapped off his leg) & Lamar have shown themselves to be quality QBs at this level.

I think you are misunderstanding something.
I am not saying he didnt have good games or played well in his whole 2 games.
He has.
I am saying the lamar Jackson's, the Kyler Murray's, the Mick Vick's of the world, while exciting & making highlight reels, wont win superbowls.
Anytime the Qb is known 1st for something other than passing. just know you will know disappointment.

Now if next year Hurts become known for being an excellent passer. You will have something. of course that will also mean you will see his rushing yards go down because he becomes an accomplished passer.

Dak before going down was one of the top tight window throwers in the league.
Wilson makes things happen with his legs, but to extend plays for his passing.

Lamar. Well you are seeing DCs able to adjust. yes he plays well & he gets his stats & highlights, but he isnt winning like had before the adjustment.

There is a reason Mick Vick was being called a HC killer. (before his drama) Expectation were high & he wouldnt be able to deliver. head coaches heads were gonna roll.
The Ravens are a kick ass team & I dont see them ever getting to a superbowl with Lamar. & I would take Lamar over Hurts.

That's why I said falters, not fails. Every young QB goes through it. 2 games doesn't mean much in this league. I agree on wanting to see what Hurts brings long term too. I think the kid brings a mental toughness that they are missing with Wentz.
For this kid to succeed they need to rid Howie from the draft room and get someone who knows drafting and get this kid some help.

Russell Wilson won a Super Bowl. Kyler Murray might certainly win a Super Bowl over the course of his career, I'm not writing that possibility for him.

You can know Hurts first for running all you want but the fact of the matter is that he has been successful passing the ball as well during his first two starts. Especially when compared to his fell rookie QBs this season and I'm sure he also compares favorably to other rookie QBs of the past through their first 2 career starts.

Hurts doesn't use his legs to extend plays for his passing? News to me.

The reason Michael Vick was a HC killer was because Vick didn't give a shit until he went to prison and turned his live around. Hew as insanely talented and didn't care to put in the work and attention that would be required to develop that insane talent and instead was fine with just relying on his crazy talent and it worked for most of the first half of his chapter of his career. But it wasn't until he went to prison and genuinely decided to take his life in a completely different direction that he put in the work and tried to become a great passer under Andy Reid and he was able to but then age and spending 23 hours a day in a small concrete cell for 2 years caught up to his body and it was short lived.

There is absolutely nothing at all about Jalen Hurts and his demeanor and how he carries himself that at all suggests he is not something who wants to put in the work and improve as a passer. We have already seen it in college from where he was as a freshman at Alabama really truly 1 read then run QB to where he was later a clearly improved passer under the tutelage of Lincoln Riley his final year at Oklahoma. And we have seen even further development in his passing ability this season with the Eagles. He is making a lot of very impressive throws out there.

Yep. JJ sucks and Reagor is a glorified punt returner. Jefferson should have been the Eagles top pick.
Come on guys. We're getting mixed signals here. RTK was just telling us all how awesome Reagor is and the Fulgham is the best WR in the NFC East.

You guys need to get together and make up your minds what the hell the Eagles have and where

Reagor is going to be really good in the NFL. There is no doubt about that with the potential that he flashes. He's a playmaker and will only get better. Also very excited to see Fulgham next season with Alshon gone taking snaps from him. Greg Ward has established himself as a very clutch and quality reliable slot WR. Rookies Hightower and Watkins have also flashed.

I'm fine with the Eagles skill position players going forward. They however desperately need to add a young cornerstone blue chip player or two through the draft. Cox and Graham are getting old and they haven't been able to add a great young defensive player since those two. The time has come for that. The offensive line is also getting old banged up. Mailata is the answer at LT. Seumalo is solid at LG but they could easily improve there. Kelce is great but might retire after this season and if not will surely retire after the following season. Brooks is great but he is now coming off yet another very serious injury. Lane is great but he has now dealt with injuries for several years straight now. The Eagles need to invest further draft capital into the offensive line.

But skill position wise, Eagles offense is set for developing and growing with these players going forward.

Neither of those guys would even make the top three on the Cowboys alone. I would also take the Skins #1 guy over both of these guys LOL
