How long does LA stick with Goff before going to Bortles?

32 picks in 42 games. Goff won't ever be elite and needs top caliber weapons around him to be good. But Bortles is worse.

When Foles went back to Philly no one thought he was still worth a dam after how bad he was in LA under Fisher.

He was also a “quality” back up

Yes it’s Bortles with a helluva a lot better OC and weapons on offense. Foles was garbage in LA under Fisher.

Goff has been awful going back to last year vs playoff caliber teams. WTH do you have to lose? Goff isn’t taking us anywhere on his arm

Bortles wins 9 games in Jax with no weapons at all but he only wins 7 in LA with a much better OC? :L
To be honest, Bortles wins 9-10 games in Jax based on a dominating defense and Leonard Fournette. Not because of him throwing the ball. As for Goff, I do agree that he likely isn't going to get you guys a ring. Not disputing that at all but Bortles can't throw a pass to save his life, good offense and weapons notwithstanding. I think saying the Rams win 7 with him is being generous.

I tend to agree with you here, still a young QB, but you want to see some growth from the SB performance to this year for the franchise QB.

First few weeks are hit and miss though when your first team offense never sees the field in the preseason. No excuse by week 4 though.

Foles has only been even usable when catered to his strengths by the coaching staff. His injury history is piling up as well.

Great defense yes but moving the chains was the issue. It was hand off to Fournette and QB keepers.
He had zero weapons at WR not like LA. WRs are kind of important

No more excuses for Goff I’m tired of it. I can see the pattern it’s not hard to see

Yep, 3-1.

Beginning of the season < end of season

How’s he looked in the playoffs? Eagles and Bears game late last year?

I do understand where @SJ76 is coming from...he's not seeing much growth from a bad SB outing, but I wouldn't be calling for Bortles yet.

Lol
Started out as a spoof thread but at this point if Goff keeps turning it over, why not give the kid a week or 2 off and see?

For me it’s a natty/SB ring or bust. I’m not into being average :suds:

I don't think any of us really want an average team, especially coming off a SB appearance the previous season...I'd want to see more from my franchise QB that just got an extension, but next year is when you can REALLY start complaining...cap hit is $36 mil. in '20.

If they pay the $21 mil roster bonus next year (they will, the dead money hit is truly deadly if they release him)...he's going to be the man next yr too.

Basically the Rams in locked in step with Goff going into the new stadium next year.

Oh I get it. It’s just incredible how you pay a guy this kind of money who’s done jack squat against playoff caliber defenses. The Rams could have waited until after 2020

Goff isn't a great QB but I'll say a bit in his defense that McVay's offense only fires on all cylinders when the run game is a legitimate threat. That's when play action is at it's most effective and that's when McVay can really hammer a defense.

Last season the Rams finished 3rd in rushing yards a game but right now they are sitting at 22nd which needs to be much higher.

Again Goff hasn't played great since regardless of what's going on with the running game that shouldn't cause you to throw 6 INTs already. But my point is that regardless of who's behind center they are going to struggle if the running game is anemic and that bleed into the defense as well since you're not possessing the ball as much it puts the defense on the field for more snaps.

Its comical how this thread started out as a joke and now people are piling on Goff.

He played pretty damn good the past two years. Better than most. He is currently 3rd in passing yards and was 4th last year. Most teams would be lucky to have him.

Tampa was probably a trap game for Rams with road trip to Seattle coming up. You have to watch out for those so they don’t get you with your pants down. Or maybe Bucs are surprisingly good.

Having said that, I have the Seahawks to win by 2. Wilson miracles.
