I'm starting to think Goff/Bottles is the slightly upgraded QB depth chart of Mariota/Tannehill.

Goff is just a good not great QB and while some of the issues are on him and him alone there is a lot of blame to go to McVay and the offensive line.

McVay's offense is completely dependent on the running game being effective and if it's not effective the entire offense is fundamentally broken regardless of who is at QB. In the 9er game McVay had the 9ers defense out schemed in the first drive which is why it was so effective but the 9ers quickly adjusted and they were on lock down after that. McVay really had no answers to it after that.

McVay is still a smart guy but the genius label was overhyped. He's simply a lesser version of Shanahan when it comes to offense and he's not quite up there with the top offensive minds in the league.

The second problem is the offensive line because regardless of how you scheme it up if you can't execute the scheme it doesn't matter how perfect it is the scheme won't work. Using Shanahan as an example in 2017 and 2018 he didn't just forget how to scheme and call plays in those years but he was working getting the pieces he wanted in place and getting them coached up and that's why you're seeing it blossom finally this season. And that's again where you Shanahan being a step ahead of McVay because despite the talent level on hand his offenses always were at least decent and had decent outings.

The Rams need to overhaul their offensive line in the offseason and figure out what they are going to do with Gurley. Either he's healthy and you run him just like you would normally or you need to start building your running game around someone else.

This is bullshit

Can Goff even handle a blitz?? At least Bortles has some speed and throws INTs

Goff is by far superior to Bortles, this is just absolute craziness on this thread. Some of this blame needs to fall on McVay since he's calling these plays that don't allow Goff to change at the line and include doomed screens 7 yards behind the line of scrimmage in the red zone and TEs blocking DEs.
