Why do you guys want Murray traded so bad? I know he is limited in speed and passing and shooting, but he is tough to play against. I really don't want to see Braun & Demers on the blue line starting. We need a tough stay at home dman, and unless Doug brings in another stay at home dman I want Douglas here in teal.

I'd love to keep him as a bottom pairing Dman in case Demers shits the bed again, or Braun decides to take a year off. Murray's play should improve if he's given 14-16 minutes a night, but I think a 2nd/3rd round draft pick + cap space to spend on a forward would help more. I will shed a tear the day he's traded. Definition of "badass mofo".

Pavs numbers = Nashs numbers. Pavs + Clowes numbers = way better then Nash numbers, Pavs, Clowe + giving up another 1st rounder for Nash = plain stupidity...

Nash = overrated overpayed... Stay far away from him please

It's a trade of what I expect to happen rather than what I want to happen. And I agree it would be a net loss. I really just wanted to see if I could fit Nash, Suter, Whitney, and Doan in the same line up.

yeah, no one "wants" murray dealt in that no one hates the man. He plays all out every game and works his tail off. He blocks alot of shots and battles extremely hard. The problem is that his style of play is starting to catch up with him and the needs to of the team would better be serves by moving his 2.5M cap hit into a solid top 9 Forward. He is already 32 (he'll be 33 by PO time next year), and his physicality has hurt him over time. He missed 22 games last year, and looked markedly slower. He struggled against the faster teams and was ineffective on the PK too, missing back doors all the time. I too love murray and I'll miss his hits, but I would definitely deal him if anything came up.

The current top 6 are reasonable, and I wish they had one more legit top pairing dman like suter, but murray just doesnt really fit.

Boyle+ burns will eat up 25 mins each. stuart and pickles will take 20-22 each. That leaves braun and demers a total of roughly 30 more minutes. FIgure braun can handle 16-18, so demers gets 12-14 mins as the #6 dman. Now, they might have trouble with depth, but they can sign a vet #7 (like vandermeer) for 1M or less, and save singificant $$ over murray. Gotta pull the trigger...

Murray's lack of speed and his inability to move the puck make him very easy to play against. I don't want to see anyone on the defense who is below average in their skating and has zero ability to move the puck in transition.

Slim,

The fact that we all believe Ott is a douchebag piece of shit is why I want him. And unlike a guy like Avery, Ott is fast, physical, good defensively, a great pker, and can make solid contributions to the offense.

Just curious to the stat ment out there. Whats was SJs record with & without Murray last season?? I dont want him to go either, but if it was a cap dump to get forwards like whitney, doan or paraise then Id have to be in favor of it... However, I think teams need guys like Murray... In comparison, with the Hawk cup run, Sopel was an unsung hero that was slow & cant score worth shit, but he shot blocking and going at it balls out every shift was a big key to that season...

SLowpel might have been slow but he had superior lateral skating ability and agility and his positioning was far better then Murrays. So he could make up for his lack of speed or first step. Plus he could make a first pass

Interesting piece at Fearthefin re: targeting Semin.

I'll say I'm intrigued at the possibility but would have mixed feelings...

Middle tier UFAs like Carle, Stempniak, Gaustad etc are going to get more than what fans will be comfortable with. Teams will need to overpay just to meet the cap floor, similar to FLA last offseason.

I wonder with the Cap Limit being 70Mill if Dwill keeps Sluglass Murray as the #5 guy, that's a lot of depth on D and he can do spot duty at the 4. It's an upgrade over Vandeermeer and Worthless White and probably a good teacher to a Demers or Braun.
