Next year it will become apparent what “kicking the can down the road “ means. Is it Howie’s Achilles heal (over paying players and other bad contracts). $50M is a lot to adjust for.

Yeah, but, how many years have we gotten rivals fans coming in saying this is where it bites you on the ass? Only to not have or bite us on the ass.

50M is a huge number. No doubt. But once I looked at the moves it would take to just get that 50 back it’s not too hard. Getting beyond the 50 might mean a rough call or two has to be made. But it’s doable.

We have to keep in mind that the Eagles want to win every game that they play, but they are gearing up to build a "dynasty", which is hard these years. By a dynasty, they mean to be competitors for the SB every year for a long time. Consistency. They are not typically going to spend "stupid money" as John Middleton said he would (which he didn't). If a free agent is available without blowing all their cap money, then they will pounce on it. That's why they won't sign Clowney for $20M/year, or trade valuable picks for Ngakoue, who wants a long term deal for the same money.

So, looks like even though the total Draft Pick's cost for the Eagles will be nearly 8 mil, the "Net Draft Cost" will only impact the Cap a little over 3 mil since only the top 51 count against the Cap. Thus the Eagles will still be around 24 mil "under" the cap even with the Draft picks considered. You have to figure the Eagles will want to roll over between 15-20 mil over to 2021 where we are scheduled to be around 50 mil "over" the Cap.

We still have room to bring in a Clowney or an Everson Griffin if we want ... but rolling over 20 mil would greatly ease our ability to get back under the cap next year.

Nope.

Next year never comes. We've watched Howie do this for a decade.

The one year Howie almost had a real problem and too many bad contracts, Howie ended up getting rid of the contracts and moving up for Wentz in the process. It was beautiful. That year he also picked us an incredible coach that's now a Super Bowl winner. All while fixing the cap.

Oh this just sounds like it has to be a given to me. There is little point in bringing in just one splash guy. It probably won’t make that much difference this year. And it’s bound to bind the hands even more next year.

We’ve made some good moves with that we had this year. Maybe try to get one more somewhat cheap but possibly effective guy from FA and push it to next year.

Here you go. Getting under cap next year won’t hurt much.

I hadn’t even thought of the doubling down on Wentz. Have to think on it (and let another season play out). But that’s possibly dicey.

Baseball is going to try to start. If they are successful then maybe the NFL will be successful.
It's official. Masks MUST be worn at all NFL games.
