Wow that's a hometown discount! I guess Vlasic's knee injury during the world championships isnt too serious.

Great term. Locking up a young dman for 5 years is always good. Comparables are:

ZMichalek $4
Gleason $4
Gorges $3.9
Volchenkov $4.25

Solid deal.

Great deal for Vlasic.

Now that he's re-signed we should find out on Friday weather he's been traded to Nashville or Columbus.

Well, not confirmation one way or another but from Pollack's Tweet:

David Pollak ‏@PollakOnSharks
Vlasic hedged when I asked if any NTC/NMC in new #Sjshark deal, then said: "Let’s just say I’ll probably be a Shark for the next six year."

We didn't overpay as much as I thought we would. Hopefully our new coach can get him to improve some more. I'd love to see him get A LOT stronger at driving the puck. His backhand strength needs the most improvement.

More consisentcy in his gap control too, when it's on he is impossible to get around. Board work and net protection would also be a plus lol

I'm not gonna kid myself and think he can build the strength needed to play a more physical style.

Also there is no variation on the per. It is 4.2 every year, interesting. That will be very reasonable in the later years.

Oh man I wish. I came to the realization last season that him and Boyle will lose their fair share of those battles. Big forwards that shield the puck work right of those two and it is nice knowing you.

From Vlasic: He later added he would like to get “bigger, stronger, faster and more physical in the corners and in front of the net, and improve my shot, as well.”

He is about to hit his physical prime so those are all easily attainable goals, and with Robinson being in San Jose now we should see huge strides in his game

Wolski signed with the Caps for $600K. lol, Capitals have the opposite problem as the Sharks. They have a top 9 forwards that can put the puck in the net, but they don't have any defense awareness or grit (save for Chimera). I'd love to trade Boyle to Washington for Chimera and Brouwer.....and then work out a trade for Weber. :heh:

Dougie may not be around to face the music, but if he keeps offering NTC's to all the players, he's going to have a hard time trading people for others. He already doesn't believe in Free Agency signings. What's going to happen when the entire core (or worthwhile trading pieces) all have NTC's and he doesn't want to delve into FA.....

(I like Vlasic and am glad he signed the extension at a good price and got the NTC, this is just more an overall perception)
