So neither one of our quality running backs could do a 3 and 1? We have to hand it off to Bolden every time? It’s so obvious that whenever Bolden is on the field they’re giving the ball to him.

Not sure this is a smart challenge here. No replay shows hold in end zone... Or is it a "hold" but ball was IN end zone, thus making it a safety? Or dos BB truly think the Chargers committed Holding IN the end zone... I don't see it

Pick 6!

Meyers into the end zone for a 2 point conversion.. Dang it... Wish it was for a TD but that's huge

Hunter Henry snags onside kick... Almost knocked off Phillips though, which would have made things very interesting

It wasn't the prettiest, but the Patriots won the game and as bad as the calls were, they overcame them and beat up the Chargers as well as beat them.

So from what I saw on Red Zone Jones looked off on the first half, we didn't run the ball enough, run game got gashed, but they pulled it out.

Sadly, the officials gashed the run game . The two holding calls on Harris' long runs were both questionable. The same official called them and not the Ref. Those cost Harris and the Patriots 64 yards. Oddly enough, the Patriots' WR were all being grabbed and no holding or PI was called.

Did anyone notice that nearly every Patriots jersey was outside of their pants? That's from trying to run while someone has a fist full of cloth. Anyone old enough to remember when officials would tell players to tuck in their shirts or get a league mandated 5 yard penalty? 70s

Neither were questionable. I didn't like them either, but they happened.

The problem is that holding can be called on every play, because it happens on every play. On both of those plays there was a holding but not a wrap-around hold. On the second one, the defender actually pulled away and Wynn had hold of the front of his shoulder pad and Harris was already beyond the line. One the first one, Mason was called on the opposite side of the play and the defender would not have even been close to being involved. Notice that not once were the Chargers called for holding? Herbert was sacked 3 times and hit 6. No calls for the cut blocks on Judon either.

But a win is a win and the Patriots were able to overcome some poor DB play.

Agreed on the second... And agreed on the "every play" aspect. A "legal block inside shoulder jersey grab" can momentarily stray from legal when a defender turns (which is what happened to Winn). Even worse, the slow motion makes the "momentarily" look consequential.

Herron's wasn't that variety but wasn't that egregious either. He had left shoulder to left shoulder leverage, then draped his right are around the defender. Again, the replay makes it look worse.

The difference between "a hold on every play" and what is called is often just where the ref looks, but if they look and see it they call it. If they look at the entire block and see "it's not really a hold" then they won't call it. It's part of the game.
