I think Slay has had better years, and they are behind him. I'd rather get Logan Ryan, and another young Cb. Then draft 2 more + a safety. We'd better be looking at Perriman, and then get 2 more in the draft. I also want Quinn from Dallas.

Quinn would be a nice under the radar signing at the right price... had a nice bounce back year last season.

Logan Ryan would be a bust signing - if we're signing him to play outside... he's a slot guy and we need outside cover guys. I still like Strap a lot to man the slot... Trufant is available and IMO is the best option without having to trade for someone and give up draft capital. The only issue with him is durability but graded out really well in 9 games played last year and played his best ball when Manuel was his position coach (Pro Bowler in '15).

Xavier Rhodes had a bad season last year but still made the Pro Bowl... I'd take a look at him too, I still think he's got some juice left. Better than the band of nobodys we trotted out there last year, even if he's lost a step.

Also not a fan of Waynes either. For a guy with his physical tools he gets burned way too often for my liking.

Agree with this entire post. Trufant right now would be my main free agent target left. I'd take a chance on Rhodes on a one year prove it deal where he may possibly rebuild his value ... a combo of Trufant and Rhodes can't be any worse than what we had last year. Then grab one or two guys in the draft to come in and compete. Logan Ryan is looking for significant money, but we don't need a slot guy; it's the same with Chris Harris.

Blurb from what most Steeler fans are saying about Hargrave:

Steelers fan here. He is so much more valuable than on paper. Until last year he wasn’t used to his full potential and then he stepped into Tuitts role and became a stud. Being in a 3-4 his value isn’t as high but in a 4-3 that doesn’t scheme like it’s 2004, he’s extremely versatile. I don’t remember the numbers you said but I feel like it’s a good deal. I was thinking the Eagles would probably be a perfect fit and it happened. Small school guy that made a difference since day 1. You should be happy

I'm as happy as a pig in shit.

Although I would have done that Diggs deal too. I always thought in the right offense he could be Antonio Brownish. Don't think that offense is in Buffalo though. Here he'd probably catch 100 balls for the next 5 years.

The Vikings weren't going to trade Diggs to a contending NFC team. I would have easily given up what Buffalo gave up for him ... great contract till 2023 and he has all the tools you want as a receiver.

Good point about them getting him out of the NFC. We probably never had a chance.

Hargrave.

You guys got a beast of a DT...solid in all facets of the game, but what makes him special is his quickness, and gap penetration. PIT's 34 front is not the best fit for him and they weren't smart enough to change the scheme and keep Hargrave vs Dupree.

I'm curious to see how he does in a 43 front playing next to Cox.

Trufant and a draft pick is what I’m thinking will happen and I’m hoping will happen.

The comments I’ve seen from other Steeler fans give me some real confidence he could excel in a modern 4-3, which was my initial concern when his position was reported as NT

Happy for him. One thing I will say is I always felt he was giving his all. He was somewhat skill deficient for a starter and really struggled with us any time he had to be thrust in. But he always came out for the next starts as effective as his talent would dictate.

The Bucs WR Perriman might be worth a look too. I think the Eagles make some under the radar moves in free agency and will be very aggressive come draft day.

He held his own playing NT, but he's not a 2 gap, double team buster. Much better suited as a 1 gap DT, his game is perfectly suited for a 43 front.

$13M is too big of a contract for a rotational DT aka there goes Howie dishing out Lurie’s money. Could be a good player though.
Perhaps his plan is to shore up the front 7 and use the draft picks for filling in the holes and depth. But where are the LB’s?

Littleton got 3yrs $36M from the Raiders... signed for less than I thought he would get. That would have been a big acquisition for us at a need position.
