I think one of the points was that Miami does not have Bird Rights on Whiteside. They won't be able to offer him a maximum contract which certainly other suitors will. I believe if they traded for Howard, they would get his Bird Rights and could resign while going over the cap.

FALSE. They can give WHiteside a max (but they shouldn't)

That would be a terrible trade for Miami. I hope they're not that dumb
I think Pat Riley is smarter then that personally. Dwight gave the Lakers problems and fled to Houston. Most people gave him a pass and didn't hold that against him, but we see the pattern, Not happy in Orlando, Not happy in Los Angeles, and now not happy in Houston. He was leading player in Orlando, but that wasn't good enough, didn't want to play second fiddle for one year next to Kobe, now he doesn't like to play second fiddle to Harden. The truth is he is a third rated player that should be working with two elites like Wade and Lebron or Kobe and Shaq. He is not good enough to be the main cheese.

If this news is true Heat fans should prepare for a lot of offensive fouls for moving screens and a whole lotta crying to the media. :thumper:

Best big man??? You do realize he isn't even averaging double digit boards, right? My goodness there are some PFs with better stats. :L

I am thinking since he left Orlando disgruntled, left LA disgruntled and now Houston that maybe he's the problem? How many times can he point the finger else where when he's not willing to give full effort? Why should ANYONE make any kind of sacrifice for him to join the team when he's lazy most nights?

Exactly, he still hasn't learned how to shoot free throws and he doesn't have very many post moves. He's just lazy and expects everything to get handed to him, including an NBA championship.

I should clarify then that they can give him a max contract if it fits within the salary cap. With the cap holds for Wade, etc., I don't think they'll be enough under the cap to offer as much as other teams can. With Bird Rights, that doesn't matter. They could go over.

I think Harden and Howard are both nice players but neither are enough in the current NBA.

James Hardens +/- in the West Finals last year against GSW:

G1: -3 (Howard -4)
G2: +12 (Howard +4)
G3: -31 (Howard -16)
G4: +21 (Howard +19)
G5: -4 (Howard -7)

Overall: Harden -5, Howard -4. So about the same with neither being able to fully keep pace with GSW.

Clippers
G1: -22 (-17)
G2: +14 (-1)
G3: -16 (-10)
G4: -18 (-28)
G5: +23 (+7)
G6: -21 (+15)
G7: +23 (+7)

So really only two games where Howard took over in 2 series and sucked 2 times. Harden took over 4 times but sucked 5 times. Neither is a top dog when facing the top talent in the current NBA.

They need a third man - The only Dynamic Duo that worked was Shaq and Kobe - The Heat had more of a Justice League of America type and the Warriors had more, The Spurs had more. Houston only those two and they are both great players, but like the Clippers, they are always a day late and a dollar short when it comes to championships which by the way pleases me. I hope Howard never wins a championship

Does he think he will take precedence over Bosh and Wade?

This Dude is delusional...lol

He better go to the 76ers.

He should have come to Dallas where Dirk was willing to take the backseat. Now I'm glad he didn't.

Dwight Howard is extremely unhappy in Houston playing second fiddle to alpha dog James Harden, multiple league sources tell SheridanHoops.com. And with the Rockets underachieving more than any NBA team, look for them to try to move Howard later this season.

And the destination that makes the most sense is Miami in a trade centered around Hassan Whiteside.

View attachment 65122It makes so much sense, in fact, that I will go so far as to predict that Howard will be wearing a Miami Heat uniform by the end of February.

Mecca's predicting he ends up there......she may be right. She's good at this type of shenanigans. After Jordan spurned the Mavs.....I could see Cuban going all in on this move.

DWIGHT was the best big man of his era.

Admittedly, there was not a ton of big men in his era....The era was very thin at the centerman spot.
Shaq and Timmy were a little bit too old and their peaks did not overlap as much.
Yao Ming was too hurt.

I dont like the fucking idiot anymore than pissed off Laker fans like him.
But, he was a dominant force at the 5 position who took a bunch of stiffs to the Finals.

Yes he is a prima donna class A jerkoff.
But, He was the best defender and rebounder in the game who could still put 20 points on the offensive side as well in his prime and motivated.

I would do the deal if I was Miami.....maybe tweak it a bit, but he fits their style 100 times better than Houston.

They only have to come within 75% to trade for him.

Which is close to $17 mil. You add up all the salaries not including the big 4 or McRoberts, because why would Houston take on 3 years of $5+ mil of McRoberts, and I still don't think you get to $17 mil.

The only way he gets dealt to Miami is if a third team is involved.

I'm sure Houston would love to do a straight up trade for him. Howard for Aldridge?

I was looking at Howard's stats vs Hardens and it's interesting because Howard at 30 years old clearly has slowed down some. His ppg, rebounds and assists have dropped while Hardens have increase. If Harden's rebounds and assists had taken a dip that was note worthy, I might agree that Howard is playing second fiddle as Harden's little bitch, but to me Harden is working his ass off and has complemented Howard's game and possibly made him look better then he actually is. I really doubt that Howard could carry Orlando the way he did five years ago, so while he is young - the late Dr Jerry Buss is worth quoting when he said "it stands to reason that when a player's game has dropped - he is worth less money - not more" - in that case he was talking about Shaq Oneal wanting 30 million a year instead of 20.

By the way - my take it is that no one should be willing to bail Houston out of trouble by taking Howard on. Let Houston remain stuck with Howard. This is sour grapes for Howard because he has suddenly realized that him and Harden are in the same position that Yao Ming and McGrady were in. Close, but no cigar and never will get any closer. Houston appears happy to win many games, make it to the playoffs and not make that final push for players needed to get a title

4 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 block in 28 minutes last night.

Please keep this man away from my team. I can't remember the last time had shitty numbers like that. Even when Whiteside doesn't score he is at least rebounding and blocking shots.

I'll trade Whiteside for Cousins but not for Howard plus Cousins is younger than Whiteside

It would make more sense for Howard to take less money to play in Dallas. Better class of city and more opportunity for him to be happy.
