93 wins to win the division and then coast through the the World Series.

Just curious. Is that a prediction purely from a "homer's" point of view? Or do you see something that will give the team those 7 extra wins you are predicting? Detroit has not made any positive moves so far this winter....so what do you see as happening to improve Detroit's chances to pass Cleveland, who has made some positive moves?

BTW....I'll take the "coast through the World Series" bit as a joke that you got from doug.

What's the TV booth situation looking like?

Three man weave with a guy resting his legs on the side with Craig?

The Tigers and the following players reached one-year deals to avoid arbitration:

Nick Castellanos
Jose Iglesias
Andrew Romine
Alex Wilson
Justin Wilson
Bruce Rondon

Sorry, Smitty...looks like they are planning on keeping Iggy at SS.

Gose, Collins, Jones, or Presley??? I guess I'd go with Jones to start with too. Unknown commodity. But I would not be surprised to see a waiver wire pick up late in ST to fill the spot. (It is how they got JD Martinez)

Not sure if he has the insticts, but JaCoby is certainly fast enough to cover CF. Apparently he spent most of the Arizona Fall League playing the position and trying to improve his defense. We'll see. I would imagine right-left hitting platoon of Jones and Collins wouldn't be too far fetched. Gose is a long-shot, IMO. Can't hit and displayed a bad attitude in Toledo.

Tigers acquire outfielder Mikie Mahtook, designate Anthony Gose for assignment

When they first traded for Gose I thought he might be something special ... apparently not. There goes my shot at being a scout ... and iffy will remind me for the next year that I was wrong.

Me too man.

He seemed to have the tools to be a competent starting outfielder.

But it didn't take long to see that his natural athletic ability wasn't coupled with good baseball instincts. He was about as bad of a baserunner as a guy can be. And he was about as fast of a player as I can remember with the Tigers.

Didn't see his bad attitude coming at all. Once Legendary Lloyd was called back up to wait his turn for Ausmus to get fired, the writing was on the wall for Gose.

I have no faith in JaCoby Jones being an actual MLB player. Maybe I'll be off on that one too? Hopefully.

Just a guess, but I don't think Detroit's starting CF is on the team yet. Some other team will end up in a numbers crunch and won't be able to keep two CFers. Avila will get ripped off acquiring the lesser of the two.

Gose showed some brief flashes of being a reliable major league outfielder, but they were Halley's Comet brief.

Mahtook looks like Ryan Raburn, Part II. Severe right/left splits...

vs. LHP: .276 with 9 HR in 134 at-bats
vs. RHP: .192 with 3 HR in 156 at-bats

What's the consensus on him in the field?

That's not bad bottom of the order production in a platoon.

Need the other part of the platoon though.

Hard to get a read on his defense, due to limited MLB appearances. He was below league average DRS in 2015, and above league average DRS in 2016. Career Range Factor/9 in CF is 2.76, versus league average of 2.54 for CF over those two seasons. But he's only played 36 MLB games in CF (26 starts).

If it means anything, he's only made 1 outfield error over two seasons (97 games played in the OF, 74 starts).

Only one error sounds pretty good.

He'll give us something to pay attention to in the GrapefruitLeague.

Yep. But he looks like strictly a platoon player. As you mentioned earlier, we need to work on the other half of the platoon.
