well the Cy Young may have gotten wrapped up this afternoon. King Felix with a very ugly 8 earned in a mere 3 innings. His ERA now at 2.97.
Stop starting JV? I know a lot of fans get super emotional if the tigers dont win or a certain player screws up or is slumping but that idea is ridiculous.. Yeah JV isnt earning his contract this year, that applies to many players in the league. His ERA is at 3.73. IT hasnt been a great year for JV but really how stupid of a decision would it be for jl to bench JV. There would be no coming back from that, it would be a huge sign of disrespect toward jv and he would take it personally as would you or anyone else if you were in that position. A 3.7 ERA in a down year for a pitcher that won cy young and mvp two years ago and people want him not starting already. The team is 20 games over .500, and well on their way to the playoffs and a player like jv can turn it around at any time. So enough with the stupid ideas.

I must have missed some peoples posts....Who suggested "stop starting jv?"
Wow, I can't believe the vitriol at a first place team and one that is destined for the postseason. Yeah, it was a bad series, and at home no less. But we are five games ahead going into September, things aren't really that bad.
For those that want to rest JV, I don't disagree that he is tired but I don't think a break would help him mentally. I think a pitch count might get his attention. He gets out, he gets innings. He doesn't, he sits.
The A's are a good team and they exposed us. Better now than in October.
It feels good to be back posting again and I look forward to seeing these two teams play again in the postseason.
