It wouldn't be a bad hire. He has haters here in Seattle, but his offense is top 8 in the NFL in virtually every category over the past 6 or 7 years. He would probably do well with your young QB, just like he did with RW here.

As far as Kris Richard goes the Hawks Defense has never looked right under his direction.

Now all these good feelings could go right out the window depending on who replaces these fired coaches. I wouldn't mind seeing some young guys brought in.

Even his two down years with Wilson, they were still in the top half of the league. I have a hard time pinning a lot of the blame on him. That offensive line is a complete and utter train-wreck.

This is why I don't always trust fan's opinion of coaches. They're in constant need of a scapegoat, and aren't typically good at locating it. A coach, especially an assistant, is too easy to blame. Typically, key players are the last-resort group of players to blame.

Bevell was the OC for Favre's Vikings in 09 and 10, along with his success in Seattle. This is a guy who has been a part of a lot of success in the NFL, a lot of great QB's (QB coach for Favre/Rodgers in GB). He helped develop Wilson from scratch within his offense and was once a coveted HC'ing candidate.

With Nagy calling the plays, I would take him as OC any day.

You're saying a guy with his resume can't aide in the development of Trubisky? I don't buy it. Wilson was extremely raw as a rookie, and in a lot of the same ways that Trubisky is now. By year #2, Wilson was playing at an extremely high-level in Bevell's offense and won a Super Bowl.

The thought of him and Nagy together. With Nagy calling the plays, it gets me excited. Bevell would be nothing more than a QB coach, and a guy who will assist Nagy with the game-plan.

Agreed, and he wouldn't be running his offense. Like I said in the above post, Nagy has announced that he will call plays. I just want a guy who knows QB's, and how to coach them. As I illustrated above, Bevell has a lovely track history with that.

Bevell wasn't a bad OC and had the Oline not been bottom 10 almost every year in his time here he would have looked even better but you also got to take into account just the Effect Russell has and what Lynch had also behind those same poor Olines. With out either Lynch or Russell they are at best a middle of the pack offense. He might do well for the Bears or he very well could be a major flop.

I'm all for change. They fired three coaches today. But I'm curious as to why they waited until 10 days after the season ended.

And I noticed that the chargers must have known ahead of time that Kris Richard was getting axed because wasted no time locking up bradley.

One more thing. I, like most of you, don't want sarkasian here but still I thought it was bullshit that the falcons wouldn't let him interview here. Did we give Dan Quinn permission to interview there or did his contract expires?

You mean the 3rd round rookie QB he took in and developed from scratch? Into a SB winning perennial pro bowl QB? I am most definitely taking that into account. That's a huge factor in why I want him.

I'll be honest... I did not go into this off-season expecting the Seahawks to clean house with the coaching staff. Bevell and Cable's firings were hoped for by a lot of people, but given how long they'd lasted to this point despite the problems on offense, even that wasn't a given. The idea that they'd let go of Richard too, knowing that a lot of the issues on defense this year stemmed from injuries on that side of the ball, never occurred to me as something that might actually happen. To have that much change in one off-season, especially when you include the number of players who are unlikely to return (Avril, Kam and Graham in particular), is pretty surprising. It makes you wonder what this team is going to look like when they take the field in September.

I thought Richard wasn't bad but I understand that a clean slate is what was needed. I think with new coaches with fresh ideas, our product on the field will be better. We have guys coming back from injury, the draft and FA, I think our team will compete. If the Rams coaching staff can turn things around in less then a year, why not us?

I don't care. Again, there are 32 NFL teams and probably between 25-32 of those fan-base's are upset with their team's play-calling a good portion of the time. It's irrelevant. As I said, fans are constantly looking for a scapegoat when things go wrong, assistants are the first to get that blame... fans typically don't understand the dynamic behind why certain plays are called.

He's regarded as one of the best offensive guys in the game. No, I will not trust you, unless you give me a concrete reason.

- Vikings OC with Favre
- Developed Wilson as a rookie, who became a SB winning/pro bowl QB in his offense
- Rodgers first QB coach in Green Bay

Bevell isn't perfect, but he's been a very good OC for a very long time (especially by NFL standards). Bears could do much worse.

This sounds much more reasonable. Saying a guy is totally incompetent, with a track record like his. It simply does not stand to reason. I am not saying he's phenomenal or anything.

I really just want him to be OC, so we have another QB guy to work with Trubisky. If there's one thing you cannot take away from Bevell, it's the great QB play he's coached.

This is Nagy's offense. He has the call-sheet, it's his scheme, it's his playbook... etc... I want Bevell for his history of facilitating/developing great QB's. Trubisky is raw in a lot of areas that Wilson was coming in, and they share some of the same tools. Trubisky's raw athleticism and ability is evident. He has some technical issues, and he needs to get a bit quicker with his reads.

What Bevell has done over the past few years calling plays for you guys, is irrelevant to me. Nagy has that covered. That said, having a guy around with the experience Bevell has at game-planning... etc... It does not hurt either.

Probably wont be worse off for it. I didn't have a problem with Bevell and would have been perfectly ok with him staying on, but if he needs to go for Cable to be gone then I chalk it up as an overall positive. I like the fact that Cable will not be involved in any free agent or draft decision on the OL going forward. Fresh eyes on the problem, big thumbs up for me.

My thoughts as well... I was 110% ready to move on from Cable...
