I missed all the drama I guess but that`s OK with me. I have to say however I`ve liked Otis for years on T&R. Allways had something intelligent to say. Cant believe there could be a widespread problem with him. Doesn`t fit his MO.
I`m gonna be giving Redskins, Eagle and Giants fans a lot of crap in coming months. Try not to take it personally. Talking some shit and a few harmless and embarrasing bets are just for fun. Having to change your avitar to an Indian in a totoo for a month is just funny. Dont take this stuff so seriously.

Otis is very welcome to come back to the Hoop and I sincerely hope he will once the season starts.

This was his choice and I respect whatever he chooses to do. And his reasons. Each poster has to make the decision that is best for them.

But I miss you Otis and hope you are doing well...

I can understand you coming from this viewpoint. Part of the problem was a gross misunderstanding that escalated exponentially. Keep in mind that it didn't help that there were quite a few posts on behalf of posters on both sides that took sides and bad mouthed the other. This just antagonized the issue on both sides. There lies accountability on both sides of the issue, IMO.


It's a tricky line balancing everyone's take and the take of The Hoop as a community of posters as a whole. I hope you can see how difficult this can be.

I wasn't trying to say either of you were. I don't remember the circumstances of the trouble on the Dallas board, I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Some people apparently did take them seriously.

Basically this site follows the same rules as every sports forum: Make sure that no matter where you post, you have your big boy pants on. That goes for new and old posters. It's difficult to pick up sarcasm and inside jokes for new posters, the same as it is when a group of new posters with their own posting styles show up.

This has been a learning experience for all parties involved. However, the sooner both cliques assimilate with the other the sooner people will have more fun. Other than looking at join dates I can't tell you who was ESPN1, ESPN2, CBS, or ESPN3. I can tell you who most of the FN guys are, but you are all the most recent to arrive so perhaps that is the only reason why.

I haven't seen anyone from FN, that is still here, that is anything but solid SportsHoopla material. That's why it is puzzling when the new and old don't mix well.

I have no issue with it, if people don't see eye to eye then just avoid each other. I didn't intend for any Dallas fan to feel like they can't post on the Dallas board, but don't invite BS to the board. Otis, you and TxHeat are smart enough to know what I mean. It means don't make posts that invite trolls to the board.

No one has been told to avoid the Dallas board, and no one has to avoid this thread. There is no "them vs us" anymore, we are all "us".

As for the back and forth, all teams have fans that don't see eye to eye. It's important to realize that, to realize that we are all waiting on the regular season, and that no one here knows what will happen so of course we are all guessing...no need to drag stuff up that is old.

I'm not looking to start anything but Otis left because of those types of posters when they went jihad. FN people were told to get to know them. But, those people have some special immunity and can just go after "newbie's"? That's all.

And this is just an observation since I have been here, not trying to stir up anything at all. I've gone out of my way to avoid trouble, but OBD was a solid poster and not a troll like they painted him to be. He left willingly, but he didn't deserve the treatment he received. And my post was a question, not an attack.

Whatever happened with Otis is unfortunate as he is a great poster and what seems like a really decent human being, but what matter of it is yours?

I honestly wish you would venture out and stick to the non FN threads and see how you like/get along with the rest of the site and just leave these threads alone, at least for now. It's not healthy for you, nor them, nor the board as a whole.
