DeGrom has been the best starter all season. Let's see if he can pitch a CGSO this afternoon.

Duda has probably been pressing like crazy at the plate, trying to shoulder the load. This is not part of his makeup, remember when he tried to focus on playing the outfield? I don't know what the hell management is thinking anymore.

And seriously, Terry Collins is gonna kill Matz and Familia with pitch counts. Doesn't Sandy see this?

FIRST PITCH: The New York Mets haven't scored a run in 20 innings against the Chicago Cubs the past two days, and it won't be easy to break that streak Thursday afternoon.

Jake Arrieta (7-5, 2.94) will be on the mound for the Cubs, but at least the Mets have Jacob deGrom (8-5, 2.15) going for them.

Mets manager Terry Collins promised some lineup changes after Wednesday night's loss, so we'll see what he comes up with.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.

9 games to go before the all star break....3 in LA, 3 in SF ..and then 3 at home vs. AZ.

I see them going 1-8.....
....with the lone win maybe coming against the Dbacks...but even that's looking like a stretch at this point.
