Mets OF Brandon Nimmo (neck stiffness) was expected to start for Triple-A Syracuse for a second straight day on Saturday. Callaway said it's a "possibility" the club could activate Nimmo, who hasn't played a big league game since May 20, when rosters expand on Sunday.
Mets INF Robinson Cano, who tore his left hamstring on Aug. 5, had two hits, including a double and an RBI, while playing second base for Class A Brooklyn on Saturday in his first rehab game.
