Anyway...I think NU made a mistake. But I wish Nebraska the best in looking for a coach.

Osborne flipped the script on Oklahoma and was what? 9-1 against Oklahoma...

That was after Barry Switzer resigned. He owned Osborne in a severe way. I've always said had Switzer not resigned, NU doesn't win 3 NC's in the 90's........

What's your excuse for not winning any NC's in the 90's?

What's your excuse for only winning one in 35 years?

Let me correct myself.

Texas has one NC in 43 years.

Texas: The epitome of under-achievers.

Switzer was 12-5 vs Osborne.
Osborne was 8-1 after that.

My fear is Nebraska convinces Art Briles to leave Baylor and he brings in Muschamp as his D coordinator. Briles would have a pipeline to Texas HS players and with those two it might get very interesting in Lincoln in a hurry.

It's interesting reading this thread and comparing it to the ludicrous rantings of a couple of Neb friends on FB. (They're definitely not what I'd call fans of the game if you get my drift.) They're so pissed that Pelini was fired and boo hooing all over my feed. Personally I can't believe it took Neb this long.

It's going to be fun watching the goings on around the country what with the number of big programs hunting for new coaches.

They appear to be from the "Anything's better than Callahan" camp.

How is this season different than last season with USC and Texas looking for coaches?

Right now it's just Nebraska and Florida, no?

Maybe Michigan and Miami, but they are mum atm.

I would have thought that Nebraska would have learned to not fire coaches for only going 9-3. They are still paying for firing Frank Solich.

I was already counting Michigan because it would be absolutely shocking if they aren't part of the list for reals if not officially. Miami's looking good for a possibility, too. Kansas isn't a big program by itself, but since it's part of a P5 conference, it would be a plum catch for an up and coming coach looking for a chance to prove himself on a bigger stage. I figure that will cause a shake up among the midmajor coaches and therefore the world of good coordinators. Auburn is shopping for a new DC.

Basically I'm waiting to see how big a reach the ripples of hirings/firings will have.

I'm not sure about Miami with the Shalala situation.

I'm surprised Michigan didn't announce before tOSU game. Not sure what they're waiting on.

I don't mean to sound rude and blunt, but you're fucking clueless kid.

Does it have to be an offensive or defensive guy? I know the defense has some issues that need to get cleaned up, and I know coordinators are a big deal as well. I was checking out a Nebraska message board and they were posting various tweets from current Nebraska football players, and there reactions aren't surprising but they have a very engrained us vs the world culture. Nebraska needs to hire someone who will earn their immediate respect otherwise the new coach will have a hard time infiltrating that culture.

With that said, there should be a lot of people very interested in the Nebraska job.
