.223 with a .302 versus righties in 2016.Moss is a good platoon bat, but he reminds me a lot of Brian Daubach (similar sluggers who started hitting in their late 20's). Hopefully he'll age better than Daubach.
Didn't Upton start the season in the two hole last year?I see that projected Tiger batting orders often have JD Martinez batting second. Seems stupid considering his high K rate, but who else do you put at second spot? Iglesias? Nanook? Upton would have psychological problems there.
Victor getting hurt could be a blessing. JD and Upton might be able to hit a double with the cleanup man on base that way. (One of them would be hitting cleanup without VMart, but you know what I mean.)
He should hit in front of McCann or after Avila. Depending on the pitcher.V-mart was one of the most useless cleanup hitters in baseball last year. Supposedly he played most of the year with a hernia. Don't know how severe it was. He drove in 86 runs, but had a ton of RBI opportunities. His LOB numbers had to be through the roof. And for a guy who rarely struck out more than 60 times in a season for much of his career, he had 90 whiffs last season, 66 from the left side.
It's logical in the sense he consistently hits RHP at an above average or better clip. Cuthbert with a 119 wRC+ against LHP offers the shorthand of the platoon. It's certainly cost effective but good is another matter. Are Royals fans honestly happy for Brandon Moss?
He's awful imo.

Power and walks tends to offset his garbage BA. Still managed a 114 wRC+ vs RHP and a 1.4 WAR. Not good- but not sub replacement value in a hard platoon either.Above average?
He barely hits his weight.
Especially now that they have Avila back, eh?CF is the key for every team. So says the nut licker.
Indians got bent over in WS.
They don't want no more of post season play. No heart.
Tigers have heart. Look like the central champs for 2017
He doesn't draw many walks though. (34 walks to over a hundred Ks vs righties last year.)Power and walks tends to offset his garbage BA. Still managed a 114 wRC+ vs RHP and a 1.4 WAR. Not good- but not sub replacement value in a hard platoon either.

I'm really just tired of Iffy V Doug on here.
So if there's any other baseball topic besides Moss, I'm game for it.
Meh. 3 of the last 4 years he has had a BB% over 9 and has had an above average walk rate in all of them. ISOs usually over 200 as well. Not surprising he was an Athletic. He doesn't draw many walks though. (34 walks to over a hundred Ks vs righties last year.)

Prolly infield. How about...is their any aspect where Detroit leads Cleveland? Outfield? Infield? Starting Pitching? Defense?
Prolly infield.
Unless Encarnacion has a career type year.
Starting pitching is pretty similar. Studs at the top, hopes and dreams filling it out.
Huge discrepancy in the bullpen. YUGE!
Outfield depends on who Detroits Centerfielder is and if Brantley is healthy enough to be himself.
Where is Jose Ramirez playing this year? I like that kid. Third?
Sanchez as the long man and then using himDetroit might be close in a few areas (infield), but IMO, the one thing that keeps Detroit in 2nd is its starting pitching. Cleveland might have the slight advantage there too, but Detroit is ahead of everyone else in the division. Shows you how weak the AL Central could be if you are counting on a rotation, that might include Anibal Sanchez, as a strong point.
