I see the Royals signed Brandon Moss and are talking to Jason Hammel to fill their SP rotation. I guess they felt they had to keep up with Detroits signings of Omar Infante and Aj Achter.

Victor getting hurt could be a blessing. JD and Upton might be able to hit a double with the cleanup man on base that way. (One of them would be hitting cleanup without VMart, but you know what I mean.)

He's really the only old guy. Other than Avila, who isn't old, but will prolly not make it thru the year without a concussion or three.

He is overrated in my opinion as well. But he fits well with KC. He fills the DH spot, at least part-time and provides a better than average safety net if the Royals lose a corner OF or Hosmer. Strange contract though. $3.75mil in 2017 and $7.25 in 2018. I guess they see him as a starter (1b) in 2018.

I see that projected Tiger batting orders often have JD Martinez batting second. Seems stupid considering his high K rate, but who else do you put at second spot? Iglesias? Nanook? Upton would have psychological problems there.

Although JD would definitely benefit from hitting ahead of Miggy. (See Maybin.)

I assume Hosmer doesn't make it to August as a Royal.
