Anyway, Ovie is in his 9th season.
He has missed a grand total of 21 games in that time.
He is 28 years old.
How many goals do you think Mr. Ovechkin finishes his career with. I realize that it is almost impossible to account for any number of variables that will impact this but just guess. It could be fun.
I am going to guess he has 7 more seasons in him and averages 70 games per season (trending toward missing more time at the back end) based on his injury history.
I also think that over those 8 seasons, he averages 35 goals per season. He will almost certainly eclipse that for the next few seasons by a decent mark (42-48ish) but it will certainly tail off at the end. That puts him at 245 total and a career of 645.
I think that the 650 career goal mark would be a pretty reasonable track. He could reasonably get to 700 but it would have to be a hell of a run.
EDIT: I forgot to factor in the completion of this season. Let's say he adds an addition 25 this year, so 650 seems a lot more conservative and 700 much more in reach in my projections.

The 1-3-1 has definitely catalyzed his PP scoring but fit is dependent on the other side being a threat to keep the goalie honest so it has been big that Green, MoJo and Carlson have been legit threats over there. If he gets that shot on net, it's in. With the pass from Backstrom (one of the mister underrated contracts in sports BTW) and Ovie's wicked shot no goalie has a chance.

Tonight is the 49th game OV has played in this season. He has 2 goals to up the total to 38 goals.
A hat trick tonight would give him pretty good odds to get to 40, but he won't hit 50 obviously .
Pretty strong half+ season or so though. Too bad the rest of the team has largely been less than impressive.

Depends on how his team plays. If they're winning by 1 or 2 goals with 2:00 remaining then he has a strong chance, otherwise no.
