Speaker's pretty underrated. I think he's at least a top 15 player of all-time, possibly top 10 and I feel like he gets overlooked a lot
I see the logic.

But we have already seen Hornsby, Wagner, Cobb, Ruth, Gehrig from his approx era. And I personally have a hard time listing 6 guys from 1 rough era before looking at other eras. I just have a hard time saying that 6 of the top 10 players played in the first 40 years of the game’s existence.

But we have been looking at other eras and are measuring with numbers that are fairly independent of era. If the guy looks good, vote him in. Besides, his era isn't the only one well represented. Please refer back to my breakdown of players based on calendar years.

Breakdown of eras with at least 4 players represented, assuming Clemens gets in:
1914 - 4
1915-1917 - 5
1918-1922 - 4
1923-1927 - 5
1928 - 4
1951-1953 - 4
1954-1960 - 5
1961-1963 - 4
1986-1989 - 4

And assuming Griffey gets in:
1914 - 4
1915-1917 - 5
1918-1922 - 4
1923-1927 - 5
1928 - 4
1951-1953 - 4
1954-1960 - 5
1961-1963 - 4
1989 - 4

Do we narrow who gets voted in next based on the gaps? Then we'd need to look at guys who played from 1876 to 1913, 1929 to 1950, 1964 to 1985 and 1990 to present.

I do believe that Robinson and Pujols may very well be ready to place.

But I think pitchers need a run as well. And I do believe that the 90s/00s were the golden age of pitchers.

I agree but Speaker is really good too and shouldn't be ignored just because of the time period he was in. Cy Young was good too and fits in that very early time period where there is little to no representation.
