Roseman traded up for Smith, traded up for Carter, traded up with us for Dejean, traded for Slay, traded for AJ Brown. Sometimes you just have to be aggressive. Knowing when to do so is the key.

I didn't have anything against the eagles until now, but years ago if i remember correctly they traded away their first rd pick to have 2 the following year and they just berserk from there with talent stacking

It's going to be a full on cold war for the next ten years between Roseman and Peters.

And I WANT ALL THE SMOKE. If we can just nail free agency and the draft again, that should negate any sophomore slump Jayden could face(unlikely). Goddell will probably write Kansas City out of the superbowl, which means Raven or Bills get a shot against possibly us

The Chiefs draft well and of course have Mahomes and Reid.

The Rams also draft well, and have McVay and Stafford, who despite being old, is no slouch. Puca Nacua is an amazing find. So was cooper kupp. So was verse.

The question is what to do to get you over the top.

I mostly agree with skinsdad: we are a good team with an elite qb that overachieved. All year we couldnt stop the run, didnt get many turnovers, and dont have many impact players.

Roseman got his eagles team to where they are by drafting well and creating a great base from which he could be aggressive and trade picks to move up and down the draft for his targets. He also got lucky on some picks, and he didnt try to solve all positional areas of weakness every year.

For example, last season the eagles pass defense was bad. Thats why this season he made a concerted effort to fix it through the draft for dejean, the dude who covers scary terry, and the fast mlb - Baum maybe.

He neglected his secondary the year before because his lines were facing retirements and he needed to fix that.

Anyway, I think this year AP should emphasize the defense but not ignore the offense. Stopping saquon is very important but so is stopping neibors, lamb, and brown - all of whom are #1 wrs who we had problems with. Lattimore showed us nothing really, if we’re being honest.

Build slowly through the draft - raise the floor of our talent level - and we’ll continue to raise the seasonal record predictions, especially with an elite qb at the helm.

When your highly paid QB is the GOAT or close to it, that helps. Lol
Yep, it certainly helps. I am not ready to say Jayden = Mahomes but the possibility is there or at least close. Not to take anything away from Patrick but Andy Reid has a lot to do with his success and I am hoping for the same here for Jayden.

No doubt that finacially a very good QB on a rookie contract, only $10 million this years is a big deal. I saw the Rams model vs. the Chiefs model mentioned the other day and I much prefer the Chiefs model. The Chiefs model is more sustainable. I prefer that to go all in for one year. JMO!! I've said this before and will say again, we can all share the ideas we think will work but in the end we have to trust in AP and his staff and DQ to coach them up.

I agree.....my go all out had the caveat of not having to blow up the roster when it's time to pay Jayden.

skinsdad insisted our defense was much improved. I disagreed all year. I was waiting for an NFC Championship type of performance from our Defense. It was a matter of time before the infamous Dennis Green statement, "They are who we thought they were".

I like your plan for fixing the defense first. We are slow, cannot tackle or cover anyone. Lots to do on that side of the ball.

I am completely torn by the trade. Myles Garrett is elite and arguably the best defensive player in the league. The idea of combining Garrett with Allen and Payne is interesting and could finally maximize our DTs.

The problem comes with the long term talent level of the team. We are without 5 of our last six first round picks as is, which has to be the worst in the league. Now we are talking about giving away two more firsts.

I am torn and can success and failure with both circumstances. I lean towards going after Garrett but think I may get an ulcer if I think about it.

I will add we had a high priced d/line and it didn’t work out and some people thought an albatross

My opinion is you can’t maintain long term success without being able to draft top end talent .

Signing Garret is a sign of going for short term gain .

I will add that vs our LT Brandon Coleman he had 0 stats

Did our high priced DL have an elite player, maybe the best in the league?

I do not think they will return to the NFC Championship Game next season. That's really hard and they got a lot of breaks to get that far this season. The Hail Mary, key drops by Nabors and D Smith comes to mind. But their window is now, if they wait a year there are no guarantees so they have to build up now and be able to take mutiple shots before Jayden's new deal.

While possible I agree with you that a lot of things went right for Washington this year. I think the team is headed in the right direction but more upgrades are needed. I do think Daniels will keep the team in many games though.

I think we can all agree on that. What is so great is for the first time in 30 years we go into an offseason knowing we will have a good team in September and will be watching big, important games again. Hail Yeah for that!

it depends what you think "all in " is . the way to build this team long term is to pay your stars , qb WR , LT and draft defense keeping it young and fast . if we go big name hunting for the sake of big name hunting , we will lose both the cap space and the draft capitol . your so called non stars on your team have young , fast and inexpensive

myles garret , by himself , wont put us in the superbowl add tee and then you are talking but getting myles guts 2 drafts

Once again "all in" is whatever you want it to be, as it means something different to each individual.
That said, I'm not sure what you mean when you write about "big name hunting for the sake of big name hunting," since not one of the players being mentioned aren't young, accomplished and at or near their peak. I get not wanting to lose draft capitol and cap space, but shouldn't that potential loss be offset by what they're getting in return?
So,let's talk about Myles and your concerns about "gutting 2 drafts."
In term of real time, with the 5th year option not being a factor* what's the window to win a SB on Daniels rookie deal? If you answered 2 years, give that man a cuban!, and a tie-in that the two-year gut referred to previously will end in the same time frame. It is bad management to slowly build over the next two-years, because at the end of it, you have to pay Daniels 1.2 Gazillion dollars AND others requiring new contract extensions. That puts you immediately in cap hell and cuts will have to be made. Garrett's contract has two years left on it, Tee is 26 and a new deal for him likely is for 4 years, putting him at 31 and in either case that "two-year gut" is over and you have a full draft.

What are we getting in return ? Partial solutions to our weaknesses and the couple of real huge weaknesses go unaddressed.
