Trainer at CES Performance outside Atlanta said #49ers A.J. Jenkins has not started training with Colin Kaepernick and others WRs.
Notes: 49ers undecided on franchise tag for Goldson | CSN Bay Area
The 49ers have opened preliminary contract talks with some of the team's scheduled free agents, Baalke said. Tight end Delanie Walker and backup defensive lineman Ricky Jean Francois are likely two of the team's top priorities, along with Goldson, to re-sign.
It is on you Baalke. They do need to get better, have a great draft, and do well in free agency. Knock it out of the park guys.
He had a rather stellar season so I can see the need to cut him some slack for showing up late.
Another tidbit to highlight from above. Alot of people are skeptical the 49ers would get a 3rd.
Baalke said the 49ers "feel strongly" they will be rewarded three compensatory picks. Their first compensatory selection will be either at the end of the third or fourth round, he said.
wow, isn't end of 3rd the highest comp pick? even end of 4th is a pretty good pick.
The agent for Jenkins says he's showing up on Sunday to start training with Kap for however long Kap decides to train down there. I'm gonna crack up if Kap is ready to return home by then.
ChrisPozz, sorry to bug you but I had a question, if you don't mind.
If the Niners trade Smith after April 1st, the new team obviously pays the 7.5, but is it still on our cap? Is the value we get for the trade treated as that 7.5 or whatever? If so, can we used the saved money to pay for the luxury tax (I don't know the penalty for NFL teams, I know the NBA has a dollar-for-dollar tax). Or is a trade late the same, just that we can't release without paying and taking a cap hit?
I don't want to repeat incorrect information, so I wanted to ask before saying wherever I post or whatnot. Thanks in advance for any help.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
The $7.5M is base salary that would count against the cap for the team acquiring him. We'd have the $1M bonus counting against our cap if we traded him after April 1st. If we trade him before that date the other team is on the hook for $8.5M total.

What Ray said. At least I think that's what would happen with the bonus.
