Didn't think about the DH
Both expected and both deserved.
As I said about a week or so back, I would be ok going deeper than that on Snelk. I would be OK with Kim on that contract, but not sure I want to go further than that. The Athletic published their 2025 FA salary predictions this am. Of note:
Soto 13/611
Burnes 7/217
Fried 5/140
Adames 6/150
Snelk 4/110
Kim 2/36
Forto 1/10
If those numbers are accurate, I'd bring Snelk back and get Kim.
That would keep the 2025 draft picks intact but there is a lot of early chatter linking the Giants to Adames. I'd be okay with that if he continues to hit at close to elite levels for a shortstop but there is also going to be a lot of teams in on him, either at shortstop or 3rd base. And he would mean the Giants would lose two draft picks if they sign him.QOs were handed out today…
A few highlights…
Soto
Burnes
Fried
Alonso
Adames
Manaea
There are others, but none of them have ties to the Giants or have seriously been linked to the Giants this off season.
I say focus on Snelk and Kim, make a few minor trades and call it an off-season.
He's not going to sign here. Oracle scares hitters. That would keep the 2025 draft picks intact but there is a lot of early chatter linking the Giants to Adames. I'd rather have Kim than Bichette. Maybe it is a one year blip but 2024 was a horrible year for him. Why pay full price on possible damaged goods? He's not going to sign here. Oracle scares hitters.
Bring me Snelk and Kim.
Some chatter that the Giants are talking to the Jays about Bichette. Whisenhunt plus.
well, you've hit the nail here. If you believe that a 26 year old guy with a career 120 OPS+ and averages 25 bombs a year is washed, then you don't make the deal.I'd rather have Kim than Bichette. Maybe it is a one year blip but 2024 was a horrible year for him. Why pay full price on possible damaged goods?
We have Murphy. The Atlanta Braves have declined their $8 million club option on catcher Travis d’Arnaud, sources tell ESPN. He is now a free agent.
He'd be a nice backup to Bales. I entirely trust Buster here.
I'd rather have D'Arnaud. We have Murphy.
MehI'd rather have D'Arnaud.
I'm saying that 2024 is concerning. I haven't heard any explanation as to why his offensive production cratered. Like I said, it may be a one year blip but why buy high when there are concerns?well, you've hit the nail here. If you believe that a 26 year old guy with a career 120 OPS+ and averages 25 bombs a year is washed, then you don't make the deal.
I'd do it.
Maybe play him at 1st base and trade either Flores or Wade?Santander is projected to get 4/80. He'd be a good DH but hes a liability in the field.
Weren't you praising the Giants for getting Murphy last year?I'd rather have D'Arnaud.
Trade Flores?Maybe play him at 1st base and trade either Flores or Wade?
