So the falcons waived Tuzar Skipper wonder if he gets another PS invite from the Steelers?

Doubt it, time to move on.

Steelers are deep at the position, and still have some other good prospects at OLB now.

That is the key word they have the depth. Maybe would be an option again if any of the depth gets poached from the PS.
Trust me by no means am I a fan but seemed to click in Pittsburgh.

I read somewhere that cutting Berry & Canaday only saves them $700k towards their cap… Haven’t checked into that but if true that’s hardly an improvement
And if you take into the position versatility, that can open another roster spot since Kuntz can be that extra LB.

Really no shockers but still curious about all the OL cuts and the perceived lack of depth.

OFFENSE: 24

QBs: Ben, Rudolph, Haskins
RBs: Harris, Snell, McFarland, Ballage, Watt (FB)
WRs: Juju, Claypool, DJ, Washington, McCloud
TEs: Ebron, Freiermuth, Gentry
IOL: Dotson, Turner, Green, Hassenauer
OT: Chuks, Banner, Moore, Haeg

Thoughts:
  • Keep 4 RBs & FB... Excessive... IMO they don't need Snell.

DEFENSE: 26

DL: Heyward, Tuitt, Alualu, Wormley, Loudermilk, Buggs, Davis, Mondeaux
OLB: Watt, Highsmith, Ingram, Jones
ILB: Bush, Schobert, Spillane, Johnson, UG3, Allen
CB: Haden, Sutton, Pierre, Layne
S: Fitzpatrick, Edmunds, Norwood, Killebrew

  • 8 DL is excessive but talent-rich. May be precautionary given Tuitt's current status, but I suspect 1 of these guys will be chopped if (more like when) they make a move in the coming days.
  • Preseason Ace Jamir Jones makes the team over both Cassius Marsh & Quincy Roche. I sure hope they can stash Roche on the PS.
  • 6 ILBs is also excessive. Another group up for a cut candidate.
  • 4 CBs with no clear slot (nickel) guy? Brooks & Maulet are gone. So that means Sutton has to slide inside (for now). They will make a move here most likely. Really hope they can stash Gilbert on the PS.

ST: 3

P: Harvin
K: Boz
LS: Kuntz (also plays LB)

  • Haven't been this excited about a punter in a long time. What should his nickname be?
    • Thickums The Third
    • Not-So-Starvin Harvin
    • Big Press
    • Big Poppa Punt
    • The Notorious L.E.G.
    • Thicker Kicker
    • Tank

CB & IOL looks scary thin right now... And DL & ILB is too thick. They have to be making moves for the OL & hopefully a slot CB.

They have to make a cb move. Can't go in with just 4.

Keeping 8 dl.. but maybe try to trade somebody from that group. 8 is too much.

Sucks to see Roche dropped for UG3

Until they get the Tuitt situation sorted I don't expect a move to be made involving their D-linemen. Dulac has stated they are mulling moving him to IR (knee). My guess is this has more to do with him grieving and they are using a minor knee issue to possibly designate him for PUP or IR-recall. That would be a minimum of 3 weeks on IR. They have been very hush-hush about Tuitt and PGH media is speculating that its just a roster manipulation tactic.

My guess is when they grab a CB they will drop UG3 or a RB (Snell/Ballage).

Well its a bold move for Joe but I understand the Steelers' stance right now. They have some decent talent pieces right now that gives them the luxury not to pay for a stability player in the twilight of his career. Bold move seeking FA at 33 years old next offseason. Richard Sherman & Josh Norman are 33 years old this offseason (for reference).

That blows, a lot.
Consolation prizes?

I know Joseph hasn't been anything close to what scouts thought he'd be at this level. But a nice PS addition if they can revitalize him... Plus the safety depth is sorta ass anyway. Norwood is the only guy with some semblance of coverage skills. Killebrew & Joseph are box guys.

Don't know much about this guy... But Denver fans are a little upset

I'm beyond surprised Karl Joseph's best offer is a PS spot.

I'd still far and away prefer to have Roche.

I agree but my mind is comin around to justifying it. He was an undersized edge guy that got beat out by a UDFA. He has talent and I love his film but he didn't have the same summer that Jamir Jones did. And that should get us a lot more excited about Jones that it does about hating the loss of Roche. UDFAs making the roster is an impressive thing and shouldn't be devalued.

At the very least we can be happy that Marsh is gone.
