So. This offensive line is looking like a train wreck heading into week one. Any reason for optimism?

Kinda feels like the Kennedy motorcade in Dallas. Intentional incompetence to clear the way.

Maybe they are trying to kill Ben.

You won't find much optimism here outside of the usual "fingers crossed" lol. I've been bangin on that drum so much since January about the need to improve the OL... I'll admit that I'm more optimistic about it than I was back in May after the draft. I'm still very worried about our OT situation. And as a unit, it all kinda depends on how C & LT work out.

LT... Dan Moore looked good, but against lesser competition. Who knows how a rookie will fair out there but I don't imagine it will be very good or very consistent. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up having to shuffle the OTs if things go poorly.

LG... Hoping that Dotson continues his efficient level of play, and also keeps that chip on his shoulder. He was unfairly bashed this offseason for not showing up to camp in good conditioning and struggled with injuries throughout TC. But once he finally got his shots he looked very good.

C... Kendrick Green looked decent and continued to improve each preseason game. Fingers crossed this kid can handle the anchor position. If not then we might have to watch Hassenauer get stomped around again. Yikes.

RG... Turner has looked good in flashes. Holds up well in pass-pro but looks somewhat slow in run blocking. Reports out of camp said he looked miserable when pull-blocking but seemed to get better as camp progressed. Supposedly he's as healthy as he has been in years. Should be a reliable option if he stays healthy. If not, then they are an injury away from seeing Coward or Finney back in... And neither looked very good this preseason.

RT... Chuks apparently got demoted from LT... So I guess there's a sense of stability putting him back at RT. And schematically the RT gets the most help with blocking. But even so, he wasn't very good last year. Ranked 57.5 overall according to PFF. He only allowed 3 sacks though, and entering year 4 at 24 years of age he should still have time to grow & improve. If he doesn't show improvement within the first 3 weeks, then hopefully Banner comes back and provides aid in week 4.

Dan moore folks were saying didnt belong in the nfl, now he is starting. Greene has been bullied.

they did a break down of all the things changed for the steelers this season, and how insane it is to think its all gonna go smooth

I think it may take a month before things click... but who knows. Maybe Canada brings some sort of magic that surprises people. I'm just hoping that the defense can keep the games within reach until the offense starts figuring it out.

Keep Ben up. We'll have a shot each week.

Fuck... I just don't feel good about this. Which, the good news is, the Steelers always seem to surprise when the expectations are the lowest. No idea why.
