You'll notice by the 2nd half (possibly much sooner) that Charlotte goes into damage control mode, and they take Highsmith's hand outta the dirt a lot more and put him into read & react mode... Way out of his comfort zone, or at least not playing him to his strengths. In the early situations where he's rushing its very easy to see how good he is off the snap. His snap count instincts are superb and he has decent hand technique to slip by blockers. Decent bend. But as soon as he gets put into processing mode he gets swallowed up a lot, and/or struggles to diagnose quick enough to get to the ball carriers.

Very good assessment!

I really like his hand work, but in that game, you're right, as CLEM started to take more control on the scoreboard, Charlotte did switch up his role and you could see the weaknesses.

He looks more like a situational pass rusher this year...curious to see if/how quickly he takes over Chick's jrole. I think they will keep at least 4 OLBs...Adeniyi and Skipper to battle for the 4th spot...or do they keep 5?

OLBs... Good question. Haven't started my 55-roster mock yet this offseason. Now you've got me interested to figure it out...

Considering Skipper can play ST well that give him some snap in the game...if they really like Adeniyi, they could go with 5 OLBs.

Right now...unless somebody surfaces in camp...ILB headcount looks like 4...Spillane and UG3 backing up Bush and AWil

First stab at the 55...

3 QB
5 RB/FB
6 WR
3 TE
9 OL
6 DL
9 LB (4 ILB, 5 OLB)
11 DB (6 CB, 5 S)
3 Specialists

Not at all excited about the ILB or S depth lol... But looking at the S depth, there are a lot of capable bodies in there that could act as ILB in big dime roles.

Good effort!

QB...I still would like to have seen a vet backup QB...don't see the purpose of carrying 2 QBs with little experience.

RB/FB...4 + Watt, I think this is how the room will play out as well.

DL...Love the DE rotation w/ Wormley and Alualu to backup Hewyward and Tuitt...they shouldn't have to log 80-90% of the snaps this yr. I'm still not ready to go to battle with the NT plan they have, but maybe it will work out...facing the DIV RBs make me uncomfortable.

ILB...yeah...there are some people that really like the potential of UG3...Spillane I just don't know enough about him.

S...agreed...I feel somewhat better about SS depth, but Fitz is a top tier FS...there will be a big drop off behind him.

ILB... Yea I put Spillane’s name on my chart by default. More like a placeholder until further notice.

S... As we’ve discussed before, there is only 1 true FS in this entire group of 5 names. Dangerfield would be true only name i’d feel semi-comfortable with playing FS. But that’s just based on his experience. In reality I think they have plans for Hilton or Sutton back there in the event that Minkah gets injured. Both have received reps back there in camps & practices.

ILB...agreed....really hoping UG3 becomes a reliable option.

S...agree 100% there...With Hilton having a defined role, my guess it would be Sutton sliding back to FS.

So much for the JT Barrett hype.

Based on the press conferences it seems like Matt Canada will have a role in offensive scheming this year... as originally expected, he'll be a supplement to Fichtner & Roethlisberger.

Ben said that Canada was brought in to help spice things up with misdirection and motion. Canada isn’t the OC, but he’ll have a lot of input.

And given his personal coaching knowledge most of the RBs on the roster, he'll have a great idea of how to get lots of people involved.

Wish Cush was here. I think we're going to be wishing for good OC play soon.
He was at the top of my list for the Steelers 2nd Rd pick. Man it hurt when they passed. Don't blame them too much though as the pool depth at interior OL was still solid so waiting on it wasn't a bad choice. I just think Cush could have been an immediate upgrade to their interior. But that was before I knew they had planned to move Feiler back inside. I hope it works out because their O-line needs to improve this year.

Punts haven't been good. But he's been punting at Heinz for 4/5 games. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Honestly don't like this at all. I'll take meager punts over the occasional shank from Berry any day.

We will appreciate Colquitt's punting more in the cold windy weather.

Funny bringing back Berry. From a statistical perspective they are same but at least with Dustin it is consistent.

I think this is more posturing because if they really wanted a new punter they would bring in anyone else. What I find funny they can pick WR's but have no ability to find a punter who can kick a ball.

I also have to wonder what's going on with the Punter on the PS. He was getting some good recognition in camp. Not sure why they wouldn't opt to bring him up if they were desperate to try something different. Signing Berry just doesn't make sense.
