So whats the holdup with the Practice Squad?

All the other 31 teams have basically filled their PS, while the Steelers are chillin over here with just 2 dudes?

WTF am I missing here? Is the FO on vacation?

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Trying to figure out who they cut that hasn't signed elsewhere and wondering if they will fill out the PS?

Yeah that is a year too long and a lot of money they will continue to defer.

Only guaranteeing him this year's salary, and then paying him less per year over the next 2 years. Which equates to roughly the 20th best IDL contract on the market. The major part of this deal is the signing bonus. Appears to pay him an additional year's worth of salary up front.

That's a great deal for the Steelers. Almost zero risk if he doesn't stay healthy. He was going to get paid the final year of his contract regardless.

Yeah the contract turned out to be really good for the team.

Come the first snap of week 1, his salary this year was going to be fully guaranteed anyway, so this functionally does nothing different. And there is little to no damage in the future if the wheels fall off and they have to cut bait on him early. As it is, his experience on the line is still needed with these guys.

It'll be a real shame if this dude never gets to sniff a SuperBowl, coming in right after the last appearance. He suffered so long, doing his job at the highest level with few good things to show for it.

They really had to get another deal or two done here. Steelers are one of the lowest spending teams for the cap this season at this point, and there is a rolling 3 year average that they have to stay ahead of.

So pushing some money into the ledger for this season has to be done after Aiyuk never happened.
