I think Ebron knew it was either that or be released and won't come close to that good of a deal again.

Whereas Steve Nelson will get paid by someone next season.

Timing just seems weird. With the money they save from Ebron’s restructure they could have paid Alualu weeks ago... Cutting Nelson was likely to get the room for the rookie class. They must be trying to make someone an offer. Hopefully a legit OL or LB.

True, it is very odd timing.

I hope it does mean something of value because they lost out on players they really should have help like Alualu and (maybe?) Hilton.

Letting Alualu walk for so cheap tells me they didn't want him back. Fearing the age wall, maybe?

Tomlin, Colbert, and our TE coach, Alfredo Roberts all at Penn State. TE coach put Freiermuth through drills.

Low effort for them all to get to Happy Valley though. But still, three critical coaches there for the TE.


Pat seems like a complete TE that would really replace that Heath sized hole we never filled. I'd be happy with him, in a trade back, or trade-up with the 2.

I would be okay with that pick as well. I just like the kid. And overall the class is shit so grabbing one of the 2-3 decent prospects wouldn't be a bad thing. Strikes me as a high character hard worker. Which we could use.

I guess that was part of the plan when freeing up cap space.
Smart move on his part for not signing that contract in Jacksonville, lets hope he continues to produce Pittburgh.

Well adding Alualu puts us back at 4 defensive starters lost... LOLB, ILB, CB2, and SCB.

Highsmith plugs the LOLB spot.
Sutton plugs a hole for 1/2 DB positions until proven otherwise.
Spillane plugs the ILB hole until proven otherwise.

If Pierre proves himself again they may very well have the pieces they need for all the starters they lost. But the depth is very concerning.

OLB... Who backs up Watt & Highsmith? Cassius Marsh? lol

ILB... Allen & UG3 are the main backups to Bush & Spilly right now. They signed Killebrew, but considering the injury history for this group I think they need more talent.

CB... Pierre & Layne are the backups, and 1 of those guys is a starter right now if they don't find someone.

S... Allen & Killebrew could play there, but they are more viewed as Big Nickel Slot LBers. Brooks Jr & Battle are the only 2 listed as true safeties on the roster behind Fitzpatrick & Edmunds.
