Unless the FAs added are Machado and Harper that team ain't competing for dick.Just looked at the MLBTR arb projections, and updated my salary spreadsheet.
As of right now, here's the roster
SP - Shark, Bum, Strat, DRod, Suarez
RP - MM, Dyson, Watson, Smith, Strick, Moronta, Black
C - Posey, Garcia
IF - Panda, Belt, Craw, Longo, Panik, Hanson
OF - Duggar, Slater, Mac, Gork
I have payroll with 27 guys signed (Law, Cueto, D'arnaud) at about $163M.
Hundo and Dutch likely get re-signed ($4 and $8??), probably not Blanco. 175M total
Room for two FAs?
Your roster has 24 players. How about Blach for the final roster spot?Just looked at the MLBTR arb projections, and updated my salary spreadsheet.

They'd be playing for 2022 (once the farm gets rebuilt and can start to compete again).Unless the FAs added are Machado and Harper that team ain't competing for dick.

In other words, just stick with Williamson and Shaw. They won't cost anything to acquire. To piggy back tzill on the Arb projections (MLBTradeRumors is usually right in the ballpark), some OFers that stick out to me:
Nicholas Castellanos – $11.3M
Corey Dickerson – $8.4M
Avisail Garcia – $8.0M
David Peralta – $7.7M
Billy Hamilton – $5.9M
Kevin Pillar – $5.3M
Eddie Rosario – $5.0M
Randal Grichuk – $4.8M
Derek Dietrich – $4.8M
Michael Conforto – $4.4M
Steven Souza Jr. – $4.0M
Tommy Pham – $4.0M
Robbie Grossman – $4.0M
Nomar Mazara – $3.7M
Michael Taylor – $3.2M
Max Kepler – $3.2M
Adam Duvall – $3.1M
Scott Schebler – $2.7M
Jake Marisnick – $2.4M
Mark Canha – $2.1M
Domingo Santana – $2.0M
Leury Garcia – $1.9M
Delino DeShields Jr. – $1.9M
Byron Buxton – $1.2M
Obviously some on this list are extreme long-shots, but I wouldn't count any out at the right price.
I'd see if you could get one of the Twins' outfielders (Rosario, Grossman, Kepler, Buxton), though none are perfect. Rosario is the best of the bunch, but his 5% walk rate and LHH profile isn't ideal. He'll also cost a lot. Grossman has an excellent walk rate, but doesn't do anything else well. Kepler can't hit lefties and his power might be sapped at AT&T, but he has defensive value in RF at least. Buxton normally wouldn't be available, but he was so bad last year that maybe the Twins are willing to listen. I highly doubt they would, but he'd be the guy I target.
I've already mentioned Mazara and Grichuk before.
Michael Taylor and Adam Duvall are DFA candidates I think. Both could be solid buy-low players.

27 contracts including the three in parens. I purposefully left the fifth OF spot open. If Blach makes the team, you have to remove one of the other RPs.Your roster has 24 players. How about Blach for the final roster spot?
I never said that.Not according to @tzill
He thinks they can retool and take a shot next year with the team they have.
Dude, yeah you did. I was impressed with the detail you gave in that post. I'll try to find it when I have time later but it's here somewhere.I never said that.
Cmon, man. Be better.

So, you don't think they will trade Bumgarner and rebuild, and you don't think they can retool to compete...what exactly do you think they are doing?
Sounds like the Yankees are trying to dump Sonny Gray. Projects to earn $9 million in his final year of arbitration. I'd take a shot if I was the Giants. Goes from Yankee stadium to AT&T, that's a huge plus. Reunites with Curt Young, his former pitching coach. Young knows Gray more than anyone.
At Yankee Stadium in 2018: 6.98 ERA in 59.1 innings, 45 Ks, 35 BBs, 11 homers
Away from Yankee Stadium: 3.17 ERA in 71.0 innings, 79 Ks, 22 walks, 3 homers
Could flip him at the deadline if he does well. If he sucks, it's only 1 year.
It all depends upon price of course, but I can't see him being a huge improvement over what we already have.
