I hope the Giants run up the price tag for whoever signs him (and do NOT end up the only team without a chair when the music stops). But then I hoped that with Zito as well. I laughed and laughed and laughed when the report of "$90M for 5 years" by the Mets leaked. Then I cried a few days later.

I would MUCH rather have four (or even three) players who hit around .300, with 40-ish doubles, and 6-8 HRs than Harper. Not because Harper isn't very, very, very good. I'd just rather have four good players than one great player (for the same price).
Name the four you want to sign for $9M a year each that hit .300

It would be a mistake to extend Bum. Hate to say it but his peripherals are really going south last couple of years. His main value is in the playoffs....and we aren't seeing those for a while

Are you guys even mad? I’m not. I’ll admit that hearing you guys, who are a lot smarter than me, wanting Bryce Harper, made me want him to. They were comparisons to the Barry Bonds and I agreed with them. But in the end, we didn’t win 3 WS with Barry Bonds. We won them with pitching. It’s how we will do it in the future at Oracle.

Yeah, who wouldn't. I'd like to date Emmy Rossum.

And that is probably why he hasn't been traded yet. The asking price was based on the old Bum but the other teams were just looking at an old Bum.

I'm not mad either, just glad the Giants seriously looked into it. He's one of the few free agents who is worth pursuit regardless of where the team is at in competitiveness (contender, pretender, rebuild, reload, restock, what have you) and what they currently have on the roster. Now that hasn't worked, I hope they don't stick all their mediocre veteran outfielders on the Opening Day roster when they've got younger guys with more upside who should get a legitimate chance to play regularly.

With adding Realmuto, Segura, and Harper (and Cutch!) are the Phillies now the best team in the NL?

Answering myself, probably not (pitching, defense). But gotta be the best lineup

You’re right and I’m happy the Giants were involved but it feels like it will end up like an Albert Pujols type situation within 6-7 years (maybe not so early but I wouldn’t be surprised)

Yeah I’m not feeling the Phillies just yet. I appreciate their franchise going all in though.

I really hope he doesn’t get traded. Tzills 13 reasons for having hope in 2019 ^^ made me feel good. Who knows what can happen.
