Lions need to sign (hopefully) 1 of the following three

DT Knighton.............. I think his asking price will be way too much
DT Williams............... Probably ends up at Den or Oak or Sea
DT Langford.............. Den, per media sources, seems a likely destination for him
________________________________________________________________________________________

we end up signing Fairley, CJ Mosley and Stephen Paea

Paea signing with the Redskins.

Williams is in no way shape or form a backup. He was a starter for one of the best defenses in football for the last few years. Not sure if the Lions are interested. I have not seen anything yet. Mosely was a backup for us but could start on some teams.

I was thinking of another Willilams. Either way don't expect him to sign here. Rumor is Giants or Broncos.

Rob, all the FA DT's are going fast and furious.

still hoping 1 of Knighton, Williams or Langford

CJ Mosley is the most likely to be back

If we could get Knighton or Williams I would upgrade my current Lions off season grade from F to D-.

How our off season is going right now was my biggest fear as to why it would be a mistake to not tag Suh.

I agree with you guys in that it does not look like we are even pursuing the big name DTs. Only Langford came in and even he is rumored to possibly go elsewhere.

Based on what I have seen so far, It looks like Mosely and a draft pick. That leaves us short. We really need 3 DTs added with only 1 of those from the draft.

At this point can Maywand afford to draft anyone other than a DT in round 1?

Revis is officially a FA. Chances he comes to Detroit?

If Mayhew can't get a couple contracts done with solid DTs then he needs to be fired by Tuesday night. He and Lewand have no plan and in one off season fucked the team as badly as when the Pistons let Houston go to the Knicks.

Mayhew has 17 million in change and cap flexibility next year and I fully expected to see two DTs signed by Tuesday night. CJ Mosley is not a plan! He is bandaid for a gunshot wound!

TE Julius Thomas joining Jared Odrick in Jacksonville. Now they're better than Detroit at TE and DT too.

I'd love that. Would soften the blow of losing Suh a lot. Not entirely, as Suh is much younger, but apples-to-apples they're each one of the best few players at their respective positions in the league, and both are key positions in a defense...

Old Lion, we may very well miss out on the best DT's in this draft, if Mayhew sticks to 3-tech DT's, there are not many of those this year in the draft, so with that possibility, why not sign 3 of those DT's you mentioned. 1 of Knighton or Dan Williams and both Mosley and Langford. Mosley and Langford would be relatively cheap each and short term contracts. If one falls to us in the DT so be it and if not we have flexibility at other positions.

4-3 base 3-tech DT's this year
Malcom Brown......................................................... 1st rd
Carl Davis (he could possibly play 0, 1 and 3-tech)....... 1st-early 2nd rd.
Michael Bennett....................................................... 2nd rd early to mid
Xavier Cooper ..........................................................2nd rd. late to early 3rd
Grady Jarrett ...........................................................3rd rd. to possibly early 4th
Teyler Davidson ........................................................4th rd. late to -5th rd
a bunch of 5th-UDFA

NFL.com sees Clemson DT Grady Jarrett as a possible Ndamukong Suh replacement for the Lions if they don't select a tackle in Round 1.

As a loyal reader, you know we would absolutely cosign the drafting of Jarrett in Round 2. In the eyes of Rotoworld, this undersized terror is a top-30 prospect. "Jarrett is on the short side at 6-1 and lacks length, but he pursues the ball with great effort and could be a nice option for Mayhew if he decides to draft a different position in the first round," wrote Chase Goodbread.

NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah believes Detroit could target Oregon DL Arik Armstead in Round 1.

The Lions figure to target defensive line fortification early in next month's draft after losing Ndamukong Suh to the Dolphins. "We've talked a lot about Eddie Goldman out of Florida State, but I'll say Arik Armstead from Oregon," Jeremiah said on NFL Network's "Path to the Draft." "He is intriguing because of his size and length. He's 6-foot-7. He would fit in great with that Detroit front. When you look at the size they have, they're almost 6-foot-5 across the board. Add somebody that's 6-7, and that's a big front Aaron Rodgers has to deal with." Many NFL.com mock drafts have Armstead going around where the Lions select at No. 23, with the highest projection No. 15 overall to the San Francisco 49ers.

Revis to Pats or Jets but apparently 5 "fringe teams" trying to get him.

Ngata back to Ravens.

DT Peters to Cards
