Maclin to KC for Cobb like money or maybe slightly exceeds

Free-agent wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to sign with Kansas City Chiefs, according to league sources - ESPN
The wild ride of subtraction and addition will apparently continue with the Philadelphia Eagles because receiver Jeremy Maclin plans to reunite with former coach Andy Reid on the Kansas City Chiefs once free agency officially begins on Tuesday, according to league sources.

The Chiefs will need to clear salary-cap space to sign Maclin, whose new contract would project in the range of what Randall Cobb received to stay with the Green Bay Packers at $10 million per year. It's possible Maclin could slightly exceed Cobb's salary when negotiations are finished.

BB_72: another highly overpaid FA, IMO.. people were bitching about $$$ Tate got last yr.. Maclin signing is

I find it comical that we are suddenly a bottom feeder team before we even see who might be added to our roster.

I find it comical were suddenly a playoff team minus Suh and Fairley. Who are they gonna sign in FA?

Don't know. To the best of my knowledge free agency hasn't started yet. I'm not sure that anyone has said we are suddenly a playoff team, for the purposes of simple facts we are a playoff team, we were in them last year. You think we wont be back and that's fine.

I don't know what the rest of this offseason holds for us, nor do you. But I think its way premature to say that we all of the sudden suck because we lost one massive underperformer and Suh.

Whether you call my posts rainbow or bullshit makes no difference. Doesn't change the fact that yours are all based on emotion. They call them emoticons so your usage of them is quite fitting.

Your opinion. I'm a passionate fan with a firm grasp on Lions history who simply isn't comfortable putting blind rainbow faith in Bubbles.

Honestly I think any real fan would be pissed. I'm hardly the only one.

Every fan is upset but this is hardly a surprise.

Most have been saying for some time now that they felt that he didn't really want to play here.

The tag was never an option and I stand firmly behind the comments I made earlier that had they told him they were going to tag him non-exclusive so he could search the market for his value, and if the team didn't want to match they would pull the offer. I think the dude is absolutely all about himself and nothing more and would have immediately signed the offer sheet, leaving the team completely fucked, and done that year so he could be a FA all over again and reap another monster payday.

The new deal should have been done as soon as the Watt deal was announced. Bad all around by The Clown Show. They suck and that isn't going to change. I'm a broken record on that issue. But it doesn't mean this season is already over with.

I think $5 million per year for a top center was probably wishful thinking, but I'll also agree that almost $9 million is a wee bit much for a center...

Right, but he was one of the best few last year, is young, and was a free agent. In a "what have you done for me lately" league, he was going to get top interior lineman money from somebody. I'm still surprised by just how much it turned out to be.

I happily would have paid $6.5 mill per season for him...

Wow. Good, versatile o-lineman, but that's a good million to million-and-a-half more than I would have spent on him.

It looks like contract averages are on the rise with the steadily increasing salary cap numbers.

Makes contracts like Jason Jones' and Stephen Tulloch's suddenly seem not so high at all...

I think we could have afforded either. I don't think either player was worth what they ended up getting paid, though.

Chargers are looking pretty foolish right about now, though. They let Louis Vasquez, a superior guard, go over $$, but now signed Franklin to fill his spot from last year for just as much $$. They should have just ponied up and payed their own guy in the first place...
