Not really "flush with cash" though considering we're going to need to lock up Levy, Reiff, Warford, Ziggy, and Slay all soon.
Slay, Warford, and Ziggy just finished their 2nd season. We should have 3 more years of team control on those three...

New CBA in 2011 stipulated top 15 are 4 yrs. with a 5th yr option (just like Fairley, as he was a #13 pick in 2011 and his 5th yr option wasn't picked up). all other draftees are 4 yrs. UDFA's are 3 yrs.

Pretty sure all the 1st round picks have a 5th year option. It is just top ten picks have a different pay scale than 11-32 for avg. money per their said position on 5th yr option amount.

Key word I said being "soon". Thndr was referring to next off season, which means 1 more year after that before Slay and Watford are free agents, but next off-season I think they can officially sign extensions? Which I'm sure they would want when they're outproducing their contracts.

Just saying, assuming we'd have boats loads of cash next off season, spending it on big name free agents(multi year contracts) would affect our ability to sign our own up and coming stars.

That's fine then. Rather sign those guys then other teams cast-offs and then keep restructuring others when we are butted up against the cap.

Knighton is one of the better DTs in the league right now. He's a lot better than mediocre, imo.

I don't agree with the logic on Reid never seeing the field and therefore being a wasted pick. He's a rotational guy right now- maybe he gets good enough to someday start, but he wasn't drafted last year with the idea that he'd be starting within a few seasons...

I just have Kyle VandenBosch DejaVu. When I hear posters talking about be on the dudes doorstep when free agency starts. That is definitely a way to overpay. Yeah, you might get a year or two of good play, (he's 28) on his third team since entering the league. If he was so magical, he wouldn't be hitting free agency- AGAIN. Most studs get franchised. Suh is the exception for reasons stated a million times before on these threads.

My name not thunder, but I would rather have Fairley without the injuries. Fairley three years younger and I believe there's an up side. But Knighton brings consistency to the line and a higher price tag for those that don't like to gamble.

That's reasonable. I usually present something as fact so I can later be corrected and find the real information that I too was seeking. It's my version of Google without the leg work.

LP, I think this is the second time I have seen you state this. With the cat out, people may not provide search engine services any longer.

I googled "did LP state that before?" Came up with nothing about a SLC guy. A bunch shit on some liquid that has petroleum or sumptin.

LP, while you're in here and I know I asked Mebert, maybe you too and I forgot already, do you think Utah's Eric Rowe could man the nickel or should he be looked at as more FS or project CB ?

With a gun to my head. Fairley.

But rather pay neither and just draft some D-lineman

Malcolm Brown if he's available in the 1st
Grady Jarrett or Carl Davis in the 2nd?

One guy I'm deathly afraid of is Arik Armstead. Want nothing to do with that guy. He is this years Eric Ebron for me.
