I think you have it turned around. If we get someone like Span, THEN we'd move Oxy to LF.

Not much out there at all, so I'm not surprised the Giants are open to all options. It's probably easier to find a guy for LF.

In terms of CFers on the trade market...

Bourjos? Pass.
Span? Pass.
Gutierrez? Pass.

I can't think of much off the top of my head.

Span projects to 280/350/390 3.3 WAR --Plus defender, in his prime.

But yeah, "pass." :noidea:

In terms of what it would take to trade for him. Don't really know what the Nats are looking for, but presumably pitching. Giants are looking for that too.

I would explore it, but what is the cost?

And that's the question. But the response isn't categorically "pass."

MLB and JPL negotiations over the posting process breaking down. Tanaka may be stuck in Japan.

Giants rumored to be talking to Cory Hart. Big risk there obviously, but he's a 3.0 WAR player if healthy.

1/10?

Per MLB Trade Rumors:

The Giants have inked two righties to minor league deals, bringing aboard Jason Berken and Daryl Maday. Berken, 29, has thrown in 110 MLB games, including 28 as a starter, and recorded a 5.36 ERA over 248 2/3 innings. He spent last year at the White Sox' Triple-A affiliate, where he managed a 3.80 ERA in 161 innings -- all as a starter -- and posted 6.5 K/9 against 2.6 BB/9. Meanwhile, at 28 years of age Maday has yet to see San Francisco, but will continue to keep the dream alive in the Giants system. He has bounced between Double-A and Triple-A since 2008, and now serves primarily as a reliever. Last year, Maday notched a cumulative 4.17 ERA in 49 2/3 innings, with 7.1 K/9 and 3.6 BB/9.

Org depth. Both ticketed to Fresno I'd expect.

Giants aren't offering him four years. Have already made it very clear they won't go afar players that will cost them a pick and they won't sign any pitcher to more than a 3-year deal

Cafardo On Bautista, Sandoval, Ellsbury, Wieters: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

The Blue Jays need at least two starting pitchers and dealing Jose Bautista could land them one. “It’s a name we’re hearing through backchannels right now, but wouldn’t be surprised if he’s available,” said an NL general manager. Red Sox skipper John Farrell is a fan of Bautista from his days in Toronto, but it’s doubtful the Blue Jays would deal within the division, even though Boston has pitching to spare.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

OK, so just for giggles, what would we think of Pablo plus Crick plus Petit for Bautista? I know we need pitching, too, but it's Jose Bautista.

Toronto hangs up the phone on that offer. For Joey Bats, the convo would BEGIN with MadBum.

Meh, in reviewing his stats, he's already declining. I suspect some possible PED use which resulted in his monster year. Swift decline and injuries since.

No way, and I sincerely mean, NO WAY he's worth Mad Bum. Depends on what else Toronto throws in with him.

I agree, which is why I don't call Toronto...
