They probably put the plane on a u-turn when Marte got hurt. Although if I were running the team, I would probably make room for Chris Dickerson and let Tabata stay down and try to let some power develop.

agree, this was an interesting choice to keep snider and send tabata.
i guess knowing the contract rules, it was a calculated risk weighted in their favor.
keeping the lefty is better for the team balance.
and they both have been playing better in june, so they get to keep them both in the system.

i would like to see what dickerson can do at the mlb level. at the very least, he could be a trade chip for another team that is in contention and gets an injury if he shows some value at this level. seems to have various talents.

I think we kept Snider up to audition him a bit to other teams. Perhaps ship him off for bullpen help, since that's about what he'll fetch.

time to send grilli down like tabata and bring mazzaro up.
grilli is done and he won't help us in the future either.
need to see the younger guys get a chance to see if they are in or out for next year.

Was a bit surprised to see Walker rates at only 0.9 WAR.

+4 on .500 and going for our first series sweep of the year. Pulling ourselves back into contention before the all-star break hopefully.

With Milwaukee faltering a bit (finally), and St. Louis not having their best year, we need to really ride this wave of momentum and challenge for the division. The wild cards are going to be very, very competitive this year. The NL is deep.

Unfortunately, the Central is the strongest NL division this year top to bottom, Cubs are the only team below .500 and they have a positive run differential, everyone else going for the wildcars are racking up wins vs weak divisions.

And yet the NL Central has 3 teams in the mix for the 2 wildcards. I figure though with the Cubs trading Shark and Hammer to Oakland they will rapidly drop to the bottom of the NL.

It is really hard to believe that just 2 weeks ago we were thought to be out of the race and today we sit 5.5 games out of the division and 1.5 out of the wildcard. We really need to make up a lot of ground in July and August because Milwaukee has a pretty rough stretch and our schedule, on paper, doesn't look to be that hard. September is pretty much a wash for both teams.

if you could spend on one FA next year (or a cuban like abreu), would you go for a pitcher or a position player without regard to who it would be.

then, based on who is actually available, who would you go after, a pitcher or a 1B or 3B,

^ yeah... Having those 2 make the ASG is a real testament to the kinda guys who helped keep us together through some really rough stretches.

That said.... Does it make any sense to go shopping Harrison around since his stock is so high? What can we get in return?

I am not so sure Harrison's value is high, this is more of a gift if you ask me. He has helped the team a lot, but doesn't have a position and has just been on sports center a lot.

Pitcher, but naming one I would target is next to impossible for me. I don't even know who will be free agents this offseason.

Josh Harrison as an all star is moronic, happy for him, but a moronic selection.

Why is Harrison as an All-Star moronic? The All-Star game is for the best players of the year, even though it somehow becomes a show for established players, even if they're having down years. Harrison is having a fantastic season, his stats back up the selection. It's not a pick made just for some feel good story. He also gives Matheny some flexibility with a utility player. Even from a competitive standpoint, it's not moronic. Sure, it may be just a prolonged hot streak...but again: the point of the all-star game is to reward players for having a good season this year.

Pick a position for Harrision, 2b, 3b, OF, there are better players at each position than him. Then the fact he has never been even an average player till this year, and add to that he isn't even qualified for the batting title because of too few ab's.

If the point is to reward the players who are having a good year thus far, where is Anthony Rendon? He has slightly better numbers than Harrison this year, has 100 more ab's, plays the same positions (2B/3B, and has a better track record.
