I am beginning to think that Hurdle secretly does not want to win any baseball games right now. Why does he continue to pitch Frieri with less than a 5 run lead I will never know.

get rid of frier and bring up vin mazzaro,
mazzaro is pretty consistent and doesn't get clubbed like frieri.
send frieri to AAA and if some one takes him, they can have him.

So, that was an anti-climatic All-Star game. Cutch with one infield hit (that was overshadowed by the announcers drooling over Jeter's fielding play). Harrison with a pop out and a K, Watson throwing one pitch before being taken out. Glad I watched.

By the reports I am reading, the Pirates and Phillies are in discussions on AJ. Not that this is news, but supposedly names and dollars are being discussed. Which is, I guess, to be expected in any trade rumor. I am not sure how I feel about it, but I guess any move to bump Frieri off the roster I should be ok with.

See, I thought that initially, and it would still bug me...but it's more the fact that he wouldn't be the best option. They keep talking on the radio about his "bringing the lockerroom together" like it's somehow not together. I don't think there's a single issue in that room. In fact, the one issue there was is in Anaheim now.

Get a setup guy to replace Freeruns.

Right now I would take Jamie Moyer as long as it got Frieri off the roster. Mazzaro is pitching well and deserves a roster spot, Frieri deserves nothing. AJ may not be an upgrade to the rotation, but he is an equal to Volquez, and I honestly thinknVolquez could be a very good late inning guy out of the pen.

burnett might not be bad if we gave 2 very suspect prospects and ate this years salary,
but being on the hook for next years puts us in the same position we were let winter that we didn't want an old pitcher, 500 for his career with good teams, paid like an ace (by pirate standards) and not sure if we would get that. He couldn't even pitch our biggest game at the end of 2013.

not willing to pay him next year. if he would waive that, i would consider (or guarantees he would actually retire so we are out of the contract next year)
