Last I read, he wasn't suspended. He was fired.

Someone can probably post the article. But as my feeble memory recalls, he got into a "physical
altercation" at a kids baseball game and they canned his ass.

Sorry....but again....piss on that A-Hole......I have a little personal history with him - granted it was a long time ago - but it seems he hasn't changed one iota.

OK....I'm done with Mitch bashing.

Nice to have another knowledgeable baseball poster in here. I just know once baseball season gets going, that retard Guns N' Guitars is going to show up with some real gems. :L

Well said. This young man seems like a keeper to me.

I'll even put up with the occasional G&G. I still remember the old ESPN days and I hope to never revisit those days.

Hell, I have baseball nightmares about some of that nonsense.

If someone adds value to the baseball conversations and isn't trolling, or just trying to increase their post counts I am ok with it. All others should be shown the door.

You are the mod here, so we expect if there are any issues perma-ban. HAHA!

GNG is a worthless poster who doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground, but always has something to say. I've yet to see him contribute one bit of value to a single thread.

How much better does the rotation look today vs the end of the season. Darvish Holland Gallardo Lewis Deteiler/Tepesch. Not a bad rotation folks.

Really hope Detweiler makes it as a starter. I just think he has a better chance of producing as a starter than a reliever and it would be good to have another lefty in the rotation.

The way he performs with a declining k/9 and swing and miss percentage

Your concern would be more a factor if TEX had actually given up a front line or even secondary prospect beyond Sardinas who wasn't going to play for TEX in the long term anyway. In my opinion ... this is an incredible trade and thank goodness none of us were working with JD on this. We would have given up the likes of two of Odor, Williams or Brinson. JD got away with Sardinas plus two guys I never heard of.

Not sure I'd have given any of those up.

Wouldn't mind hearing from our ole Atlanta friend, Les again. Will be hearing from him when season starts I wager.

Yeah, I did not know who Diplan was myself so here is a short summary for those of us not in the know.

The Rangers obtained Knebel from Detroit in the July deal for right-hander Joakim Soria. Knebel, 23, made nine appearances at Triple-A Round Rock before being shut down because of a small tear in the ulnar collateral ligament of the right elbow. The injury did not require surgery.

Diplan, 18, was 7-2 with a 1.54 ERA in 64 1/3 innings in the Dominican Republic summer league. It was his first season as a professional.

If we had, I'd be evaluating this trade differently for sure.

As it stands today, I'm pleased-as-punch.

Same here. Sardinas seemed to always make contact but there was no place for him. Not sure how anyone could really complain about what we gave up in this trade.

Did not realize Gallardo has made at least 30 starts in 6 consecutive seasons. Impressive. I know there were some poster(s) that actually have been wanting Gallardo for a while now but cannot remember who it was.

I thought Hambombs really wanted him at one point and was willing to pay at the time, but seems to have cooled on that.

Adding Gallardo will cost the Rangers $13 million in additional salary -- not too bad for just one season, with Gallardo entering the final year of his contract. Gallardo is open to staying long-term, and Daniels has said he wouldn’t mind trading for a pitcher with one or two years remaining on his contract, given the possibility of a long-term deal down the line.

Good ole' Calvin, without all the facts straight

Would you rather spend $94mil for 4 seasons on a 31yo who would be pitching in the same spot in the rotation? I think this is a good deal. Much better than a decent deal. The Texeira trade was a great trade.

A 31 yo that would cost you a boatload of prospects, like half of the RoughRiders?
