Watching mlb network, they are saying Sardinas was a top 5 prospect in our system. Wondering where they got that from.

What exactly are you on the fence on regarding this deal?

Its not a blockbuster deal for Kershaw to the Rangers for no players exchanged from Texas with the Dodgers paying all of his salary and throwing in Greinke to sweeten the pot

We will see how it pans out. I think it was a decent deal. But not great

Today and it's all on paper; the Rangers did very well. Fail to see the downside of this trade really.

Gave up very little, "potentially" got back a lot. If we didn't get back a lot, it still buys time for our youngsters in the minors to improve, and the guy should eat innings even in a fair year.

Do keep in mind, this is a contract year for him. Lots of personal incentive.

That's what I figured.

If you're looking for knowledgeable reports on the Rangers, look elsewhere.

He's perpetually been top 10 for several years now, I just don't see it, never have, that's why I've always been in favor of trading him while he had skewed value

Kid has utility IF written all over him. He'll probably have a long ML career. He'll just probably never be an all star.

This is a great deal no matter which way you cut it, take the blinders off, a reliever, a util if, diplan who's barely in some people's top 20, and 4 million for a #3

Everyday of the week, if he blows his shoulder or elbow out its a different story, but thats a whole nother scenario

Just saw this as I have been out and I think this is excellent. It really to me is a no lose. Knebel, Diplan and Sardinas who we really did not have a spot for for Gallardo. The worst we come out of it is if Gallardo has a bad year we did not deplete our minors to get him. It is well worth it to make this move.

this is a perfect assessment of Sardi IMO.

He's probably better than Rosales at multi positions, but without the bat. On a good contending team, I could see this kid being valuable.

I wish him nothing but the best. Always seemed to have his head in the game. Who knows. It's a small baseball world. He may come around again.

The way he performs with a declining k/9 and swing and miss percentage

My question wasn't whether he was your ideal pitcher. I see no scenario in which we have up too much for him unless his elbow spontaneously combusts in spring training. Do you disagree?

Awesome Deal by JD....I wonder if he's done with the rotation....

With what JD has shown me, I would have to assume he is always looking for a way to upgrade the rotation. I don't think he ever is content if he thinks he still may be able to get a deal done

Good deal for sure. I just hope he can keep up the high ground ball rate

Gallardo intentionally changed his pitching style a few years back to become less of a power pitcher who misses bats to one who pitches more to contact and induces a lot of ground ball outs. He did it to decrease the wear on his arm and increase his longevity in the league. I think if you look at his stats, you'll notice that his ground ball rate has increased quite a bit over the last few years, and that is not a coincidence. He's no longer a dominant ace, but he's as steady and solid of a #3 as you'll find (with apologies to Jordan Zimmerman who is only a #3 because of guys named Scherzer and Strasburg).
