don't know much about Blackmon honestly, been hearing his name a lot this offseason though

From everything I've read they'd rather free up money by trading CarGo and get a bigger package and keep Blackmon

I'd think JD still has a sour taste about not being able to resign Cliff Lee. I'm betting when they made that deal, they felt good about their chances to resign him. Zimmerman extended would be incredible beside Yu

If he'd sign an extension that would be a pretty nice deal. Maybe extend Gallardo as well for the right deal?

Darvish
Zimmerman
Holland
Perez
Gallardo

Chi Chi, Tep, N Mart, Lujack, Thompson, Bonilla

And 2016 would look pretty good pitching wise

Assuming none are trade to get Zimmerman or Gallardo

I still think the elephant in the room is Yu Darvish. Nobody has been talking about him much lately, but how he leads the rotation next year and our ability to extend him looms large. I don't know how this team will bounce back if he leaves. JD better be prepared to throw Kershaw money at the guy.

I don't want any part of Cargo I wouldn't think, he and Tulo miss way too much time

Very much so, last year before free agency, he'd free up needed money for Scherzer and would allow them to fill multiple holes in their lineup

That's true. It's going to be interesting to see what they do

That would almost be too much to wish for, that and good health. All I know, is if you ended the year with Gallardo as your #5 starter, you're ready to roll

Correct, there is likely a couple that could be gone by then via trade

He can totally do it, but unless he wins the Cy Young in the next 2 seasons or finishes 2nd through 4th in BOTH seasons, he's here through 2017

Probably would be one of the best 5 starters in the league

Bite your tongue lol. You're so right, and if I'm the Rangers, I go in tomorrow and try and extend him. I've always thought it is your best chance to keep them. The difference in what he would make to end his agreement over the top of the scheduled amount makes it attractive for the player, provided you give him the legit offer. It's gonna take right around Kershaw money to get it done IMO. Yu didn't see any of the posting fee the Rangers ponied up to get him. There won't be any hometown discounts for a guy who has well outplayed the contract amount he actually pocketed

It will surely take a boatload of cash, he's been here on a pretty good deal if you throw out the posting fee. His part of the contract was not peanuts for him but it will be fairly cheap compared to what he will fetch if he hits FA

Should we worry about the Dodgers? Maybe their deep pockets aren't THAT deep. I'd guess our main competition would be the Yankees or Red Sox. I haven't seen either teams spend on a big contract recently. They might be saving up to make a run at him. The Angels could be another candidate. Dodgers might be out because of Kershaw, Greinke, and kemp weighing them down. Seattle has Cano and King Felix weighing them down. I just don't want him to hit the open market.
