I loved him most as the 7th/8th inning man.

Romeo would know the answer to this question I think: Which puts more stress on a pitchers arm, starting every 5th day and throwing 100 pitches, or warming-up/pitching 3/4 times a week and throwing max but with few pitches?

I think folks "in the know" usually disagree. I have heard arguments for each of those from folks in the game.

This pretty much sums it up. It depends on who you ask.

He's always had such an unusual delivery and it puts so much stress on his body it's small wonder he can't stay healthy.

However, when he's healthy he's very productive. But when he refused to throw in winter ball he left the Rangers with no alternative but to move on.

I guess he felt he needed the offseason off. I would like to see us sign him now if he is healthy. Hopefully, his decision to not throw in winter ball didn't cause any bad feelings because things like that can get in the way of sound baseball decisions.

I know Oswalt and Feldman both thought switching back and forth between the rotation and the pen was bad on the arm and many of our guys who have done so have been hurt. I know those guys were seen as whiners, but I think they very well may have been right.

As far as moving a pitcher from the pen to a starting position, let me ask....most pitchers have been starters for as long as they've thrown a ball? Agree?

And if you agree keep in mind this: If you were a pitcher and you saw the financial investment starters get as opposed to BP guys, which would you wanna do?

IMO MOR starters make more money yearly and for a much longer commitment than good, sometimes better than good really, BP guys do.

My point is, I can't blame a guy who has been a starter for most of his baseball life, seeing what he's seeing financially, wanting to at least be given the opportunity to do so.

@donaldson - I saw your comment on the Cowboys board. I thought you might like to know that Marinelli is coming back, says Ian Rapaport

Why I think guys like Smoltz are something else. Must have a rubber arm.

Rangers signed Carlos Peguero to a minor league deal. He hit .266 w/ 30 HR's last year for the Royals AAA affiliate. I remember him as a Mariner. Big ol boy.

We also signed Guilder back. Good for him.

Hello stranger
Never been too far away. Just can't remember to come here when there ain't much Ranger news to catch my attention. Wish there were.

Wondered what had happened to you. It is the slow time of the year for the Rangers.
